Club Football 2026
Re: Club Football 2026
Very quiet on this about the football final tomorrow. Maybe people are bored of the same two teams participating in the final!
Tullamore are the masters of getting over the line in finals, they have the know how to get the job done, ugly if necessary ,these are by far the best two teams in offaly, if it's coming down the straight neck and neck, Tullamore will have calm heads and see it out, there surely has too be some scar damage from Ferbane after losing too the same team in finals,

Re: Club Football 2026
The neutral supporters would like a Ferbane win today.
Re: Club Football 2026
52 mins it took for Ferbane not to kick it straight into the middle of the field
10 mins is all it took Tullamore to win it
Didnt have to do anything fantastic either

Tullamore are as ‘inter-county like’ a club as we are likely to see. In fairness to them, they are winners through and through and always seem to get over the line. They might not lose a championship for a few years, which is very ominous considering the amount of underage titles they win.

Whats up with Kevin Nugent is he injured?
Wasn’t he captain only last year?

Re: Club Football 2026
Cian Johnston was captain
Last year , Kevin was the year Eamonn o Conner handed Tullamore the final

Re: Club Football 2026
Tullamore cleaned up the breaking balls from kick outs was the winning of the game, ferbane lived on scraps in the first half but looked dangerous when they did have the ball.
With just over 4,000 as official attendance one team dominating won’t be good for the county. The underage structure they have and all this with no apparent scoring forward.
I think it is the Dublin champions next up so a good test to see how they get on.

Tullamore had their biggest win over Ferbane in 4 recent finals today. Favourites for 2027 I think.Anon444 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2026 5:08 pm Tullamore are as ‘inter-county like’ a club as we are likely to see. The writing is on the wall for the Offaly SFC, and has been for a long time. Tullamore will make Ballygunner’s record look minor in a few years.
The population must be doubling, their access to money seems unlimited, they play their home games in OCP. how can the rest compete (I could go on). Their main sponsor (who played for Shamrocks) also has 2 sons coming up through the ranks, having never lived in the Town, joining a few others from neighbouring areas who also don the Tullamore blue.
I’m not sure what the answer is, but it’s very bleak for Offaly football.

Re: Club Football 2026
Tullamore won that in 2nd gear, went as i expected, as for Tullamore dominating,
That's a result of good club structures, put in place, it's just a very run club from top to bottom,
Population never came into it when rhode we're winning all around them!!
It's up to the other clubs to improve their own house before begrudgeing Tullamore,
Well done the To the town

Re: Club Football 2026
Firstly, congrats to Tullamore. That was a dominant, fully-deserved win where they controlled all the key battlegrounds, and one that was secured on the back of their balance and cohesion overall, as opposed to players like Cormac Egan and John Furlong lighting it up.
It's a demoralising one from a Ferbane point of view because we were so far off today, it was nothing like any of the other three finals in that regard. The battle for kickout ball wasn't a battle, it was a rout, as Tullamore always seemed to have more players around the break, and when you get bodies in the right place, you'll usually end up with the ball in your possession.
Mike Fox, Niall Furlong, Daire McDaid, these are all some of the more unheralded Tullamore players who I thought were excellent today, and then you look at Liam Dillane, Oisín Keenan MArtin, Michael Brazil and others coming off the bench, it's serious firepower.
My fear all year long was that in a weak championship where not every club player is always as tuned and ready as he might be, Ferbane were able to elevate themselves above the rest of the chasing pack because they are fit, strong, well-coached and have some depth. But when it comes to taking on Tullamore, you need something special, and that's where the loss of Cathal Flynn was just too much to overcome. Add in David Nally looking a way short of his usual effervescent self, no doubt a reflection of the arduous schedule and the emotional toll of last week's heartbreaking loss to Ballinamere, and we just didn't have the touch of magic that was needed.
I'm not going to blame hurling for the loss, because the dual culture is deeply engrained in our parish, it's part of what we are, and I wouldn't ever want to change that. I'd prefer to win many fewer titles and continue to live to that ethos than to see a more calculated approach - but of course it's going to have an impact. It was said by a few at the time, but the loss that hurt Ferbane most this year (aside from today) wasn't the loss to Rhode in their first game, it was Belmont's loss to Shinrone. If Belmont find a way to win that game, then Tullamore reach an SHC quarter-final, and they're busy playing that game instead of playing that challenge match against Claregalway where they did so much work on the kickouts, and that ultimately was the makings of them. Maybe, just maybe....
....but then you look back at today, and you remember that this wasn't like 2025, or 2024, or 2023, when it was very small margins. Tullamore were very competent in all facets of play, and we weren't.
So to Tullamore people, I say congratulations, well-done, and now for the Love of God, please go and make a proper tilt at Leinster, to make us all feel a bit better about it!
