Re: Club Football 2026
There is no relegation from intermediate due to the number of teams increasing to 10 for the 2027 championship.

Re: Club Football 2026
How do we see the 2 finals going this weekend?
Edenderry v St Brigids: I think this one is tough to call. Cian Farrell is a huge boost at this level for Edenderry. Brigids were very poor against Ferbane but found a way. I think the hurt from last year will be enough to drive them on and get over the line here.
Tullamore v Ferbane: I think its fair to say its the final everyone wanted. These teams have had many a great battle over the years and its going to be great to see them going at it again in another final. Really really tough one to call. You feel maybe Belmont losing the hurling will add extra motivation this week for Ferbane. Didnt seem to pick up any injuries in that game. Both teams looked controlled and assured in their semi final wins. It felt like Tullamore upped it a couple of gears compared to what they had previously shown and may be peaking at the right time. Going for a narrow Tullamore win.

If Ferbane lose another final it could really scar them lads.
Think this is their best chance to win it. Bigger around the middle and should score more up front.
A 4 in a row loss along with their hurlers losing 6/7 semi finals narrowly they’d have to question everything.

On the intermediate.
I’d really be hoping for a Brigids win.
The way Edenderry have brought back ex senior players and players who were away from the summer as soon as they got into the knockout stages was shocking really.
They’ll get promoted up to senior b and all those players will flee and they will get hammered.

It will be really hard on Ferbane if they lose on Sunday. Will they be able to lift themselves for another shot in 2027? Avoiding a fifth loss will motivate Ferbane to finally get over the line v Tullamore. We’ll know on Sunday evening.DurrowBoy17 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 6:49 pm If Ferbane lose another final it could really scar them lads.

Is it the final everybody wanted? I'm not so sure. I think most would've preferred a different combination at this stage. I'd expect the attendance to be blunted again as the neutrals grow sick of seeing the same two teams.TownieTim253 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 4:18 pm How do we see the 2 finals going this weekend?

I'd also think Belmont losing in no way helps Ferbane. Some of them will struggle to pick themselves back up, a win would've provided much needed momentum for Sunday.
Ferbane have been the most consistent team this year, but Tullamore are hitting form at the right time.
If Ferbane at their peak are an 8/10, then Tullamore at their peak are a 9/10. They have that extra gear, particularly when the game is in the melting pot.
Ferbane have more than a puncher's chance, Tullamore are not infallible but it would be a surprise if they don't make it 4 in a row.
Regardless of who wins, neither will be progressing beyond round 1 of the Leinster club championship. Cuala/Castleknock await in Parnell Park.

Nearly as shocking as giving walkovers in the senior football championship!DurrowBoy17 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 6:52 pm On the intermediate.

But not quite.

Re: Club Football 2026
Chris Dwyer got the gig.
Speaks volumes that from a Ferbane perspective, it has gotten to a point where you'd probably take Kevin Williamson as a middle of the road option for a game against Tullamore.
It's not Tullamore's fault, but it's a real problem for Offaly how many of our top football refs have ties to the club.

KW was fixed for the final had it been Rhode vs Ferbane.Lone Shark wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 11:45 pm Chris Dwyer got the gig.

As it is, there are very few options.
In fairness, nobody had a bad word to say about Marius after last year's final.

I feel bad for Kevin Williamson, he's a fantastic referee and on my opinion, the best football ref in the county by a distance. Yet the way things are going, he might not get an Offaly senior final in his lifetime because Tullamore will be in them all.Anonymous1 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2026 12:23 am KW was fixed for the final had it been Rhode vs Ferbane.

No issue with Marius last year whatsoever, had a perfectly good game and didn't influence the result at all.
