Surely the semi finals should be
"Repeat pairings avoided where possible. Draw if necessary".
How does it make sense otherwise?

Ballinamere v Belmont in birr
They should be swopped around
For logistical and common sense reasons .
I suppose the straits of Hormuz was closed .😐😳
why cant both be on the same day and same view.

More like the ‘Straits of Blueball’ are under drone attack.

A good point, maybe the idea was to use 2 venues to avoid pitch damage to either venue. I really have no idea.

How do we see the 2 semi finals going this weekend?

I'm going with KK by 7+ and Ballinamere by 4+.
Should be two entertaining games. Screeney back is a great boost for KK.

Shane Guinan and Matthew Farrell reffing the 2 semis.
That probably means that Adam Kinahan or Brian Gavin will get the county final - Kinahan I'd assume.

Does the lack of chatter here about the weekend’s games reflect the view that these 2 semi finals seem to be foregone conclusions?

Out of curiosity, does anyone agree that Rynagh’s are entitled to feel aggrieved that they are facing KK again?

100%. Should have been a open draw at least.

Them’s the rules since we went to the current format 4 or 5 years ago.

Great result for Rynaghs junior A’s tonight. A chance to go up 2 grades in 2 years. Anyone any idea how many times that’s been done before ??

Most expect a KK/Ballinamere final.

But "foregone conclusion" is a bit strong for the Ballinamere/Belmont game at least. There were only two points between them four weeks ago and most felt Belmont left the game behind them, Paddy Clancy going off injured at halftime was a big blow to Belmont too.

I think Ballinamere will win, but it wouldn't be a massive shock if Belmont get over the line.

They are the rules, so no point complaining now.

However, what on earth are the pen-pushers in the county board doing with this format?

Off the top of my head:
Ballyskenagh won Junior in 1994 and Intermediate a year later.
Carrig did likewise in 1995 and '96 respectively.
Tellamore won Intermediate in 1989 and Senior B a year later.

Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

"Offaly's hurling is exact and abrasive: full of assurance on the ball, devoid of fumbling and slicing and sod-busting". Kevin Cashman RIP (September 1994).
