Senior A QFs
St Rynaghs v Shinrone
St Rynaghs the form team but I think Shinrone are coming into form. Shinrone by 4.

Birr v Belmont
Belmont have some really dangerous forwards but will need to keep Cahill quiet. Belmont by 2.

Senior A Relegation
Lusmagh v Kinnitty
Joined at underage and both looking to cling on. Lusmagh have shown more this year. Lusmagh by 3.

Senior B Semis
Clodiagh Gaels v Clara
CG won the earlier meeting but Clara are the form team since then. Conor Doyle looked to be carrying an injury in last week's football, following the hit v Clareen. CG by 2.

Clareen v KK
KK look to have thrown in the towel on the Senior B. Barry Kealey somehow cleared to play for Clareen. Clareen by 8.

Intermediate Semis
Shinrone v Clareen
Both have lost players to first teams so hard to gauge. Shinrone have more depth, but Clareen have Joe Bergin. Clareen by 2.

Coolderry v Shamrocks
Some of our own lads seem more concerned with winning a Junior B than an intermediate, which should never be the case. Shamrocks by 12.

Junior Hurling 1/4 finals:
Tullamore v Belmont - This should be the closer of the two games this week end for me, Tullamore beaten finalists last are a big physical side with some good experienced players, but I feel Belmont might take this one by 3-4 points after a big win in the final group game.

St. Rynaghs v Shamrocks - I fancy Rynaghs to take this one, Shamrocks got out of the group on a head to head after a hard fought win against Edenderry and have some good scoring forwards and probably won’t be far away , but il go with Rynaghs for the win.

Crinkill conceded the Junior A relegation final last night. That’s the 2nd walkover they gave this year. They look to be in real trouble looking at results the last couple of years. Birr & Rynagh’s form is closely linked to Coolderry.
Belmont & Shinrone’s to Tullamore.

Rynagh’s were quite fortunate to beat Coolderry.
Who, at the time, looked impressive enough based on league form and round 1.

Birr looked impressive against Coolderry, but things weren’t 100% there obviously by that stage.

Shinrone were caught by a very good Tullamore display.
Belmont held off Tullamore.

If Tullamore and Coolderry had of got through, and were now facing each other, based on the same results and performances, I think you’d have to fancy Tullamore.
And fear that Coolderry simply wouldn’t have the legs for them.

That sways it for me.

I think Rynagh’s are organised but limited.
Granted they have legs up front.
Birr can’t be in a happy place with all of the inconsistencies.
Lose to Clareen, lose to Rynaghs, hammer Coolderry (which just seems to be par for the course these past 8/10 years), awful v Kilcormac.

Shinrone and Belmont by 5/6 points each for me.

Crinkill conceded the Junior A relegation final last night. That’s the 2nd walkover they gave this year. They look to be in real trouble looking at results the last couple of years. Word on the street is they will really struggle to put out a team at all next year. If that happens, what would that mean for CRCC ??

At this stage those involved in Crinkill GAA really need to consider their ongoing and future viability as a club. This should be done in a 'no blame' manner - it is nobody's fault and it's not through any lack of effort but times and demographics change and clubs need to change with it.

Talking to those involved with Ballyskenagh/Killavilla, Clodiagh Gaels, Shamrocks or Kilcormac/Kiloughy and their experiences of their respective mergers would be a good place for Crinkill to start. I think it's instructive that nobody from those clubs would now reverse their mergers.

Crinkill would do well to forget about the past and to do only what is truly best for the next generation and the GAA in their area.

Good win for Rynaghs in the end, though I thought shinrone looked more cohesive. They seemed to know where their teammates were at all times and some of the ball they were playing was brilliant.

I can’t help but feel Rynaghs would get more out of themselves if they moved Ben Conneely to centre-back and Gary to centre-forward or full-forward. Ben is probably the best hurler in the county but there’s not enough action at full-back for him, he’s almost nullified by the position and he could influence things a lot more further out the field. Gary is the most obvious James Gorman, Joe Brady, Garry Hanniffy type hurler. He’d do some damage closer to goals with the likes of Rigney running off him.

St Rynaghs won the game because they didn’t concede a goal. They actually didn’t concede a goal scoring opportunity. Why?

Ben Conneely was full back. Don’t change it if it’s working.

Shinrone didn’t have a full forward line and bypassed it completely.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand completely why he’s put in full back, and maybe they don’t have another option there but if they could find a solution, moving him to centre back would take the shackles off them.
