I remember going to a match in Kinnitty on the Saturday evening, absolutely bucketing down all weekend - I’ve no recollection of who was playing!

It was a double header on the Sunday evening. Belmont beat Clareen and Birr beat Coolderry. Lone Shark remembers it for all the wrong reasons.

Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Shane is leading the Irish Open by 3 going into the weekend. I hope Shane keeps up the good work, tomorrow’s forecast is for rainy cloudy conditions.

What a display of golf over the weekend and diplomacy thrown into it.
Sure the way he is going he may take the step into politics, be a sight better than the currrent Clara man out in Europe!

Some weekend of PR for "Brand Lowry" anyway, and fair dues, Glenisk got some profile with all the Offaly jersies around the place.

What a weekend from Shane. You could’ve handed him a sweeping brush instead of a bag of clubs and he still would’ve taken the field apart. He was completely locked in, playing the kind of near-perfect golf that every player dreams of.

It was probably the best Irish Open in a long number of years. The course and the electricity in the crowd was something else. There is something a bit tame about inland resort courses like the K-Club or Mount Juliet. It's a smoother experience in many ways, but there is something great about spectators perched up on sand dunes and trying to keep balanced.
It felt like the old Croke Park with fellas sitting up on high walls, or standing on the roof of the stand.

Great Offaly scenes of course, and a few Westmeath lads are seething this week

Getting into Trump’s ear on the whiskey tariffs was the cherry on top. It shows that diplomacy, and being inside the tent talking, instead of outside, roaring, gets better results.

A mighty weekend for Shane. He is some ambassador for Offaly. From my interaction with Westmeath they have always wished Shane well and were delighted for him at the weekend. That video posted wasn’t a great look at all… he slightly let himself down. We will look very silly when they gave us another hammering in the league.

First off, I'm not a fan filming people when they're off duty and out enjoying themselves.

In this case, he was out with people like Conor's Sketches from Westmeath. I'm sure there was plenty of slagging in all directions. The Westmeath lads are perfectly entitled to enjoy their first Leinster title, without an asterisk beside it, and no doubt take a cut at Offaly, while they're at it.

But like any back-and-forth with the maroon crowd, sooner or later you have to play the ace card to put an end to it.
