Its club hurling or football. Players chat in work or too family or friends i think we are all getting carried away here social media and and apps make it harder to keep things tight but ultimately most peole in or around the team have an idea whats going on at club level.

To be fair if Drumcullen knew the opposition team, tactics and bus driver they still wouldn’t win a game.

I think managers doing that seriously underestimate the connections that lads have nowadays.
For the most part, it isn't even anything sinister with information being shared.

If Birr went to hurl O'Loughlin Gaels tomorrow evening in Borris-in-Ossory and none of the Birr team were told who they were playing, I can guarantee many of them would hear anyway.

A young lad from Clareen will be living with a lad from OLG in college who will ask him what Birr are like.
A chap from Kinnitty will be working in Dublin with someone from Dicksboro who would have heard in passing in a sauna in Kilkenny that there's a match tomorrow.
Someone off the Birr team will be just back from a J1, where he lived with a lad from Thurles, who have just hurled OLG in recent days and heard from them that they are to hurl Birr Tuesday.
A player's father from Birr will pass through the shop in Borris in Ossory and will hear someone mention the challenge match in their pitch tomorrow evening.

In this scenario, do you want your players to be told at training on Friday evening who they are hurling Tuesday, or do you want him to hear from his friends in a group chat?
Ireland is a small enough place and Irish hurling circles are even smaller.
If a rival manager really wanted to attend the game, he is going to find out anyway, whether you trust your own players or not.

The same journalist mentioned last week at it again this week. Reading his article this morning and when discussing the Coolderry/Kinnitty game says "the loser will play Lusmagh in the play off for the drop back to senior “B"." Fair enough its the likely outcome but its factually incorrect and is very insulting to Lusmagh. I get that its a small detail and I wouldn't imagine it was said with any malice, but he doesn't really help himself does he?

2 days later he had to go back and change it, assuming someone pointed it out to him.
And yet he writes the same this week in a new article?
That begs the question if he just copied and pasted portions from last week’s original article?

And it’s not a hook - a sports journalist who is writing a preview is supposed to present the facts. After that, they can give their opinion, but he has presented opinion as fact.
