Re: Club Football 2026
One thing that can’t be faulted is the effort Edenderry are putting into hurling at the minute, most nights now the fields are filled with underage hurling boys and girls teams. The junior hurling team has a panel of 30+ players on checking the last team sheet.
The underage teams are progressing very well all the way up to minor. The intermediate footballers have two wins and they were newly promoted last year, it’s not all doom and gloom like people may think, good people on and off the pitch.

There's more to a club than just the senior team.

It’s quite possible that Edenderry will win the U16 and Minor B hurling championships this year.

Re: Club Football 2026
How do we see this weekends senior games going?
Section A is very tight with the 4 teams still being able to qualify for the semi finals.
Ferbane v Shamrocks: Expecting Ferbane to push on here after a great performance against Tullamore. Having said that wouldn't be surprised if Ferbane weren't as hungry this and Shamrocks could exploit that. Gonna go with Ferbane to win though.
Tullamore v Rhode: Expecting a big response here from Tullamore. They will have been disappointed to have lost out to Ferbane for the second time this year and I think they will be looking to make a statement. Credit to Rhode though, they are undefeated and will be quietly confident coming into this. I expect improvement from Tullamore and for them to cement their place in the semi finals.
So that would leave Ferbane and Tullamore in semis and Rhode and Shamrocks in quarters.
Section B Ballycommon are safely through and 3 other teams looking for that second spot.
Clonbullogue v Bracknagh: Tough one to call, would give Clonbullogue the edge, just think they have a bit more of an edge up front. I don't think this game will actually hold much significance in the grand scheme of things.
Clara v Durrow: Durrow with nothing to play for and all the eggs will now be in the Ballinamere basket. Would hope Durrow fulfil the fixture as there have been murmurs they may not. Clara to win easily and secure a quarter final spot.

I probably should know this, but I'll take the lazy way and ask - is there a relegation final, or are Durrow confirmed for the drop if they lose to Clara? I don't recall reading about it, I'd assume there's a final but I'm not sure.

Tell me you’re joking that Durrow are contemplating giving another walkover in the Senior Football Championship?

Re: Club Football 2026
I'm sure it couldn't be true. If so one would have to wonder is it Durrow's choice or is there something more sinister going on. Long hard discussion will need to be had if that's the case.frankthetank wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2026 4:48 pm Tell me you’re joking that Durrow are contemplating giving another walkover in the Senior Football Championship?

Re: Club Football 2026
funny forum this. no one cared to comment on the 2 games last eve? one a mild shock? ferbane were like the harlem globe trotters in the first half. the opposite in the second. as for rhode? what a resilient club. tullamore seem to be going thru a slump. but will still be in semi final more than likely and will still be odds on to win it specially with the few returning lads..

Re: Club Football 2026
Wins for Ferbane and Rhode yesterday. Ferbane will be happy to be straight in the semi final given their hurling commitments, they’ve been the best team in the championship so far for me. Rhode straight to the semis as well and they’re going to be a tough match for anyone they meet. Tullamore and Shamrocks into the quarters and probably won’t mind too much given the gulf in standard between group 1 and 2. To be honest it’s been a fairly poor championship and it feels like it’s only going to really begin in the knockouts. Little to no jeopardy in Group in the last 2 rounds. Tullamore I feel will be a different proposition in the knockouts and have a good few guys to return, rumour has it a certain guy is due home from Australia for semi final. Shamrocks will want to clear injuries and have a full deck for knockouts. I still feel it’s between Ferbane and Tullamore.

You'd have to favour Ferbane and I think many would be happy to see them get them over the line.
Tullamore just look off it. Which I suppose is not unexpected after winning four of the last five championships.

2 games yesterday that were never really going to have a big bearing on the championship. Would be a huge surprise if the same 4 teams were not in semi's. Rhode and Ferbane will be happy to be straight into semi final but another game will probably suit Tullamore and Shamrocks with players coming back and getting up to match fitness.
Re: Club Football 2026
Rhode hung in there , anton was very good and Niall mc does what Niall mc does , although age isn’t on his side you love it if he could produce a. Cameo for Offaly, anton would surely be back in if he’s asked and accepts
Tullamore just didn’t seem to have any sort plan other than run at Rhode and break through the lines that or try for 2 pointers
First red was harsh because the initial yellow was a very soft one pure accidental momentum created the foul
Then the second red for Tullamore was madness right in front of the linesman
Ferbane got a small scare in the second half but pulled off some great scores to pull away again
Good entertaining games

Shamrocks are beleiving their own hype again i remember last year they were fancying themselves to beat Tullamore then lost by 15 points how can you be 1-14 to 0-4 down at half time and try call yourself a serious contender? They are miles off being able to beat the big 3 in a knockout game they’ve done nothing this year only beat a woeful edenderry team im not listening to this shamrocks talk anymore theyll be beaten in a semi final and Rhode or ferbane will be praying they get them in the draw
