How are Clodiagh Gaels not giving 100% to football? They are primarily a hurling club and have fielded 2 football teams for years - Edenderry are a much bigger club population wise, primarily football, and field the same number of football teams. There are Senior hurling clubs you haven't listed that are supposed to be fielding Junior football teams but giving walkovers instead and Clodiagh Gaels is not one of them. There are also Senior football clubs like Rhode, Clonbullogue, Bracknagh, etc. that don't field hurling teams at any level and you don't mention them either, at least Gracefield have a hurling team.

Brosna Gaels absolutely take their hurling seriously. Unfortunately numbers dictate that we’re not ready to compete with Ballygunner just yet. When we had the numbers we did compete at senior A. Our entry of a junior C hurling side shows the level of interest and commitment from a very committed hurling fraternity here.

Clodagh Gaels would also definitely take both codes seriously.

I have to agree with Doon Exile. Clodiagh Gaels, a dual club, do take JuniorA football seriously. They lost the 2025 final to Rhode. The Gaels beat Clara at the weekend.

You'd swear it was the board of of gaa that said it and are penalising clubs the way some lads react on this forum

Everyone who is active on here know exactly there are teams prioritising one over the other hurling or football

While some do Thier best as doon exile pointing out brosna geals in junior C ,

What an ignorant and stupid post - I can assure you that Shamrocks take both their hurling and football very seriously. Shamrocks have 3 teams in Adult Football (Senior, Junior A & Junior C) and 2 teams in Adult Hurling (Intermediate & Junior A) and rarely give walkovers to anyone. All 5 of these teams are competitive and 4 have serious chances of winning their championship. You should at least do some basic research before slandering a Club's good name.

Edenderry to be fair have a small GAA population in the town. The demographics of the town also doesn't help as a lot of the population is not from a GAA background. They also have to compete with two soccer clubs - the rugby club doesn't have much of a crossover as far as I know.

Bracknagh and Clonbullogue are probably from the least hurling oriented end of the county, and football will always be number one there, but AFAIK they do provide hurlers to Gracefield at underage and adult level.

The point overall is that a lot of clubs across the county are feeling the effects of reduced interest/playing numbers. I can understand clubs entering teams for championships as there was an interest there, but when it comes to it then, those players can potentially let you down which we are seeing now with the walkovers in lower grades of hurling and football.
