Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
I did want to react a little to this one…but just left it. But as I noted myself before….dreamland stuff for me.

I tell ya what, being there today beat them Joe McDonagh graveyard slots at 2pm on a Saturday. Nice crowd in, and there seemed to be decent travelling support from Kilkenny too.
Great to be involved in these games again, thought we were gonna do it when Ter's point just seem to drift over the bar in slow motion. Happy with the draw given the controversial circumstances at the end.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
I’m 85% sure that it was a 65, Oisin pulled at the ball and the Kilkenny man stuck his hand out and deflected off it.
Umpire was about to give a 65 until Johnny Murphy told him to wave it wide, but when Murphy went in to his umpires he changed his mind, so they were clearly pretty certain it was a 65.

There absolutely no way under the sun the umpire had a clue
Why call a wide and not consult because it happened so fast
Darrell Dwyer had some kk fans rattled in the stand
Thought it was reffed fair both sides if anything kk got away with a few , first half there was an advantage given witch resulted in a professional foul no black card
The last 2 games Galway and kk seem to have a Sense of entitlement Galway only seem to support there players when there 7+ ahead and out of sight
Didn't make a difference what free was given kk had the opinion they were being robbed
They got a handy one to go one ahead
Mckessey the biggest turn coat there is realised he was going nowhere with Kerry and left them
Thought oisin was brought in about 5 mins too late and we never got the ball in we needed after that
Cian Kenny was a real pain we struggled at times to keep up with him
If a few more balls had stuck in our forwards kk were in big trouble more than what they already were

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Hats off, I couldn't see us getting a result, Kilkenny were in bother today, make no mistake about that, TJ Reid took off, they missed alot of frees to be fair.. Offaly brought their 1st round intensity today and my God it showed, a goal would probably seen us get over the line.. Kelly fierce unlucky at end.. 5 mins from end abit late to bring him in, but look, we won't be too greedy... We'll done all... No screnny today too remember..
Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
A big performance from our lads today, and let’s be honest, it could have been a lot better. We gifted Kilkenny a lot of scores with our own mistakes and often when when in possession.
On the last 65 I was convinced in real time it came off the Kilkenny defender. One way or other, a draw was the least we deserved from that game.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Firstly well done to all for a massive result, just like the Dublin game we could have won but equally could easily have lost. After Cahill missed the first two frees and not really involved I must admit I was thinking they need to get him off, shows you what I know. He didn’t miss one after and the pressure on him for the last puck was unreal.
Ross got a lot of stick on here earlier in the year from some members. He has been solid all championship and rightly deserves his place. The importance of the elder guys with the young lads is badly needed.
As for today this was done without screeney, brecon and Shirley with Dan and king only coming on in the second half. Reality is if we lose to the yellow bellies next sat evening it will go down to the wire vs Kildare. Wexford whom probably thought were out of it sat evening will be thinking take Offaly and then we have a Galway team whom might play some fringe players before a Leinster final and that should get us top 3. Let’s keep grounded until end of championship

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
I thought the work rate was off the charts today. I was particularly impressed with Dan Bourke and Ter Guinan, but I think it was so important that some of the “older” lads showed up today and held their own. Thought the full back line and half back line were excellent and Eoghan Cahill and Brian Duignan were brilliant in the second half.
Midfield were non-existent today unfortunately, but I think that issue is amplified by the amount of work Cathal King does in midfield even if he wasn’t quite up to it when he came in. Colin Spain looks like he’s devoid of any confidence at the minute, which is a pity because there’s loads of hurling in him.
I don’t want to be counting my chickens, but is it completely impossible that Dublin get a trimming from Galway and draw to Kilkenny whilst Offaly take 4 points off Wexford and Kildare to nab a Leinster final on score difference???

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Midfield was poor alright, and you could also argue a lot of our forwards were held from play for long periods (eg Charlie, Eoghan, Conor Doyle), but everyone kept working like demons. Great to have the Offaly roar back at a big senior match, we even got a few seconds of Ua Fhaile at the end! The biggest roars for two inspiring points one from BrianDuignan and the other from that spectacular Ter Guinan point near the end.
Agree, let’s stay grounded. Next week is huge for us, will shape our season. Let’s attack it.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Similar to the Dublin game. It was brilliant to draw, because it would have been a tragedy to lose.
Superb effort all through. The work rate was serious which led to several heroic blocks, hooks and interceptions. All these moments gave energy to Offaly.
And serious kudos to Cahill. The last 65 and the free before that were tricky. For Kilkenny TJ missed 4 frees and Kenny missed 2 after him. It wasn't handy conditions for freetakers.
For the last 65, the Offaly players immediately appealed it and kicked up a proper fuss so the crowd knew something was up. It then made it difficult for Johnny Murphy to ignore the appeals.
If they'd held their whisht, it was a defeat.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Offaly must get to 6 points and hope Galway down Dublin and for a winner in the Dublin-Kilkenny match OR Dublin to win both games.
Other than those outcomes, we'd fall just short on scoring difference.
It's a possibility which wasn't expected at the start of the year, most of us were looking down instead of up.
Of course, there's still a chance we lose our final two games and go down.
Everything is still on the table.

Concerning news about a player taken to hospital after the game, hope he is ok
