This Taligan cup this year is actually a division 3 and Division 4 Cup, only difference is offaly and westmeath swap places. We, having won Division 3 last year really should be red hot favourites to win this.. clare aren't near the team they once were. Down is the only decent football team in it, we seen what armagh did to them.. wexford did ok but I think the wheel has come off for them to.. who's in it we should fear? Clare? Sligo? London? Longford? Wicklow? Fermanagh? Limerick? Carlow? These are the teams that's in it. Yes laois beat us buy we were woeful that day. If we not favourites to win this, its easiest taligan cup in years then we really have falling from grace

The Offaly team of 2025 is absolutely favourites for this competition, or at worst, narrowly second favourites to Down. The Offaly team of 2026 is nowhere close to that level.

I would never place money down against an Offaly team, but the three point handicap on this looks very low, in my opinion. Challenge match form is not reason enough for me to believe we're significantly further on from where we were when Laois opened us up time and again.

the delusion is really amazing on this. were 8th favourites at 14/1 to win it. were 5/2 to beat clare. how could anyone think we would be favourites?

Not a lover of betting on. GAA
But realistically
Were hoping we. Might get an easier draw in the losers group and try and build some type of momentum
We didn't beat Care in Ennis last year when we were leading for 60 minutes
But the wind destroyed us that day
Travelling in hope more than expectation.

your last line above is only acurate thing you said above...how in the name of God can you be so certain we will beat Clare..other teams listed all lost in Championship some with their boots on, as you say we were awful against a mid table Laois Div 3 side..we might win V Clare, but we could be beaten too..Clare got 1-14 V Kerry..we got 11/12 points against Laois..

One would have to wonder how the game will go and I certainly hope they will beat them and put in a good performance. I remember not so long ago travelling down to Ennis one Sunday in the wet and wind only to watch what was tactically as disaster of a game for Offaly.

I seen people giving out here before on attendance at games etc. Our county social media platform don't seem to keen on promoting Saturdays game. One post with very vague details on the game as appose to 4 post on the hurling this weekend. To the ordinary joe it doesn't even look like our footballers are out this weekend. was similar before the Dublin game interviewing players etc with none of that InSite coverage to our footballers before the Laois game.

I know the hurling is at a higher grade and all that but surely both sets of lads deserve the same coverage on social media???
It would be nice of the county board even slightly recognised the footballers by simply putting up a post on TIME DATE of the game.

Before I get backlash its just my view and I will be in both venues over the weekend. AND HOPE WE CAN GET 2/2 WINS

All things being right, this should be fairly close. Met a player the other day and was happy to hear that mood is boosted a bit by Galway win and that they are hopeful to get over the line on Saturday. Dont think there are any new injuries etc so should be full stack to select from. Anybody hear the team or was it released yet?

Would genuinely like to see the footballers win. But in all honesty that full back line is very poor. Every team looking at us are going to target that area. This campaign is going to boil down to the players attitude and how much they want it. Listening to people the atmosphere coming out of the camp is very torn and disconnected.

Alot of talk of player unrest ....but no player has left the camp and players like higgings , Hyland and Tierney all deciding to stay on despite being injured through the horrible league campaign and could have taken the easy option and stayed away until next season when presumably new management will be over the team.....plenty of lads all knocking around together outside of the camp so it's bizarre again the take of in camp fighting ......the team is the team and just like last year it's the best players available for the most part that are being picked ...one or two players id be every unhappy with but I feel that way about my club team , my premier league team etc etc etc ...no manager is going to pick the exact same team the fan wants every time....like I said for the most part it is definitely like last year the best team available ....current management will be gone soon anyways so it's all Irrelavant but iv being hearing the same spiel of infighting in every struggling Offaly foot ball camp for 30 years now. ...big swing a you know what ..get on with it

Jesus snotzer a new campaign and your back at it again standing up for management, league ended we all thought you had FINALLY seen the light but here you are again with your best team and fights in camps normal crack.. Offaly should absolutely walk this taligan cup with the teams that's in it, not a single division 2 team in it apart from offaly of course, but management will find a way to not win it

There is no doubt but there is a bit of unrest. The players are not happy - maybe not all of them, but a lot of them certainly. It hasnt been good enough. No points in league. Shocking score difference and hammered by Laois in championship. Lets be honest here. There isn't a rift between player groups like there may have been in the past. The unrest among players is with management of the team. That is not really a secret at this stage given what some of the players that left the group have revealed to date. Why would Higgins, Hyland and Tierney etc leave if they were trying to get back to play. Those lads love playing for Offaly and always have done. They will be there after this management has left the building and possibly the next management too.

There is a strong team available for Saturday. Bracken and Higgins down to start. There is some strong subs there in Leavy and McDaid and Plunkett if needed. I hope we can edge it tomorrow. It should be a close contest. No excuses any more for personnel absentees. This is the game they should have been aiming for all year. Champ 1st round of a champ we should be able to have decent chance of winning.

midfield is worse thats why the fullback line is under pressure we are getting clean out in midfield in every game.
