Exactly. That's a very decent Longford team, and Offaly were nip and tuck with them the whole way. A high error count tonight, as you might expect in utterly dismal weather, but the workrate of the team was good, they scored 1-11 from play with nine players on the scoresheet, they constantly looked to attack and to try and make things happen, and they did all that with a decent spread of 2025 minors, with Brian Carroll injured and of course no Cillian Bourke, who would have been a game changer at this level.

Any championship loss is disappointing, particularly one when you know that if the two teams played again tomorrow, it would be another 50/50 contest, but the team was clearly well put together, well-coached, and there are plenty of footballers in it that have a bright future.
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

A good game of honest football in conditions you wouldn't put dog out in
To be honest
Both set of players gave it all
Mistakes win games
Managed to go up to Enniskillen shopping so made the day of it
But the under 20s tournaments need a weekend fixtures not just l pigeonhole
Them for dead rubber club games later on in the year .
They deserve respect
Are we taking part in the Andrew Corden competition?

Can’t fault the effort.
Longford made less mistakes and that was the difference. They dominated the kickouts to a large degree and had a more controlled attacking pattern. Quick ball to inside line and often target the no 12 as a shooter.
Terrible evening for a game but plenty of effort.
Jack Maher and Christian McKeown did well ….and in fairness Eoin Dunne offered plenty when he came on.
Class goal from Dylan Dunne, lovely finish. Cian Mc got some good scores.
Turnovers under limited pressure a killer .
But decent Longford side I’d say and well drilled.
The little corner forward they had was some ball winner and distributed well.

Hard luck to the 20s could have went either way just a couple of mistakes cost the team.
Plenty of positives with the players moving on out of u 20 Jack Maher Christian Mckeown should definitely pushed into a Offaly senior set up next year both are quality defenders. Jack Maher will play senior with Tullamore this year which will put him on the radar again for senior next year.
I felt sorry for Eoin Dunne he should have been left with the 20s and not sitting on the bench for the seniors getting a few mins here and there.
Plenty of potential in the group for next year. Jake Maher from Ferbane has really come on the last few yrs will surely play senior with Ferbane this year then the minors from last year will make up the bulk of the team. Only worry is Jack Ryan will probably brought straight up to senior even tho he’s not the finished article yet and would be better served with the 20s for another year anyway. But he’s an outstanding talent
Hopefully the same MGT team are left in place for another few yrs

Offaly were very unlucky last night, but they battled right to the end. They gave everything they had for the full duration of the game and never threw in the towel, even when they went four points down late on. They kept pushing and managed to pull back two points, staying within reach right up to the final moments.
they looked like a very hard working and dedicated group. They also appeared well drilled and well coached, with clear structure and organisation throughout.
Most importantly, beyond the coaching and setup, they have three or four outstanding footballers in that team, and collectively they had a solid year overall. However, they ultimately came up a little short and that will be their focus going forward as they continue to chase success.
