Very few counties would have 4 goalkeepers up to inter country standards as they need to play with the county to keep your hand in .
That's the reason In Soccer goalkeeper are brought in on loan rather than promote from.a 3 rd or 4 choice
It takes time.to bringing a club player up to inter country standards.
What do people reckon on Leitrims motion to ban inter county players playing with clubs elsewhere
Has it legs ?

I doubt it. For a start, I think it's pretty fresh coming from a county whose goalkeeper is a Monaghan native playing in Louth and who also brought in Niall Walsh from Cavan, currently playing ball with Maigh Cuilinn.

There'll also be a fair bit of local opposition, not least from their new county champions who suddenly got way better because they brought in the three Jones brothers from Fermanagh, and who are still playing with Fermanagh.

As for what it would do for Nickey Rackard and Lory Meaghar hurling counties, that tend to have at least four or five players from outside the county.....
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Not sure that'd be in Leitrims interest or any of the smaller counties interest. Besides, they often have a dub or two with Leitrim blood playing for them. With little employment etc there, I'd imagine lots of their young players work away from the county. Are they going to force them home from Dublin or elsewhere to play with home clubs? I think that it might even block some of their own players playing for them if they choose to play club football in a city where they might work. My sense of it is if a lad's life is in different place, be glad they are playing football and making themselves available to Leitrim.

Harry Plunkett starting. Darragh Flynn and a few other new players involved also. Ciarán Murphy from Skerries Harps at wing forward. Do we know anything about him?

To be honest Mayo fitness level was a big difference.
Bigger panel.was to be expected. showed well for about 30 minutes but half time changes we were brushed aside.
Would not get to carried away they are further down the line and have played more games and been using there second and third team players .
Bring on Carlow on January 3 rs

Move on , Anton hasn't played in an age..he was a great servant..we could still have had Niall McNamee in there the last few years for the 5 minute cameo as he would probably do better job than forwards on bench for last years games but sometimes you just have to move on and start a fresh..yes there's argument Anton , panda etc could still be in there but sometimes you just have to move on and no one was mentioning anton last year when we won a league final in croke park...management made decision to move on from Anton last year and it was proved right ....I wouldn't go bringing him back in now just because they have been very unlucky with injuries....

Snotser,on a previous page u said Anton missed a last minute penalty,Peter Cunningham missed that penalty but Anton should have been starting that game he came on and scored a goal.he is definitely still good enough for inter county football,he gave his life to Offaly football, one of the best players I have ever seen. And he gets a 25 second phone call to say he’s not good enough off DK,and that’s it,he definitely deserved better after everything he’s done for Offaly football.
