Interprovincial semi-final - Leinster v.s Ulster
Leinster football boss Val Andrews has named his panel for the Inter-provincial semi-final against Ulster at Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday night.
The 26-strong squad features players from 10 counties, with the only counties not represented being Wicklow and Kilkenny. Andrews is without the services of a host of big names, including Ciaran Whelan, Alan Brogan and Dessie Dolan, who have club commitments this weekend.
Leinster (SF panel v Ulster):
Westmeath G Connaughton, M Ennis, A Mangan
Laois A Fennelly, D Rooney, B Quigley, P Clancy
Dublin C Moran, D Lally, C Keaney, B Cahill
Longford B Kavanagh, B McElvaney, D Reilly and D Sheridan
Kildare J Doyle, D Earley, P O’Neill
Meath J Sheridan, C King
Wexford M Forde and D Kinsella
Carlow M Carpenter, T Walsh
Offaly K Slattery
Louth D Clarke
Ok, surely Offaly played enough football this year to earn a few more places on the panel, Niall Mac must of being a contender for this. Matty Forde and Carpenter seem to be the only major players for the full forward line. Most of this panel aren't household names either.
If Ulster have all their players at their disposal, Leinster will get anniliated!![/b]

Given that Niall Mac might have another game on Sunday, maybe he chose not to be included ???Rynaghs Biffo wrote:Leinster football boss Val Andrews has named his panel for the Inter-provincial semi-final against Ulster at Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday night.

It's completely patchwork, as it had to be in the circumstances. I'm pretty sure international rules guys are ruled out too, or else you'd have seen Mac in there as well I'd imagine.
Put it another way - here's a cobbled together 15 lads that are tied up in club matches this week - I'd fancy them to beat what Val is left with any day.
1 (Okay, I can't think of a keeper ...
)
2 Colm Morris
3 Barry Cahill
4 Paul Griffin
5 Paul Casey
6 Tom Kelly
7 Paul McDonald
8 Ciarán Whelan
9 Alan McNamee
10 Ross Munnelly
11 Alan Brogan
12 Paddy Keenan
13 Donie Brennan
14 Dessie Dolan
15 Niall Mac

leinster railway cup team
with regards to mcmanus he hasn't been involved with leinster since he made himself unavailable a couple of years ago because he was managing the parish under 21 team that played Rhode in the final at the same time they were due to play munster.
the ulster team was named yesterday, who are also short a few but still have a relatively strong team
paul hearty
andy mallon barry owens francie bellow
b dunnion b monaghan p jordan
d gordan n gallagher
d clerkin s cavanagh f doherty
s johnsten s o neill p bradley
leinster probable team could be
gary connaughton
aidan fennelly darren rooney michael ennis
declan lally brian cahill slatts
breendan quigley dermot earley
conal keaney diarmuid kinsella pauric clancy
alan mangan john doyle mattie forde
mangan no doubt will start due to a good campaign last year and andrews has a tendancy to pick midfielders in the half forward line. also Lally has played sigerson at wing back with dcu thats why i have him there.
i know people will have many different opinions on the team and a case could be made for most who are left off. the two carlow boys sheridan and clarke(who destroyed a tyrone defence) could well be on everyone elses team
