Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
To (finally) deal with the question – does it change my mind on the Tall… Tall… Tailtean Cup? And you’re not mistaken. Maybe three years into the thing I’ve mellowed on the subsidiary cup thing and gotten used to it. But not because of Senior B, Intermediate or Junior championships – they’ve always been with us. Maybe that's a contradiction. If there is, there is; life is full of contradictions.
I’m not going to rehash the arguments again, but it still disappoints me that there are no opportunities for Offaly to play a top team from another province in championship football. I’m thinking the games against Down in 2010, Monaghan a year later, Kildare in 2015 and 2016, Cavan in 2017, all of which were competitive fixtures and offered hope at the time that Offaly could move to the next level. And my opinion is that such games would offer more by way of promotion than the existing model. That said, 2pm on a Saturday remains the graveyard shift as regards fixtures, no matter who's playing.

Your query taken in the spirit you intend, and I'll reply when I get a chance.Offaly Hero wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 2:49 pm Slightly off topic - but with this reaction and your reaction to Lusmagh's win - do these respective victories in 'non A grade level competitions' change your mind on the Taitleann Cup?
I apologise in advance if I'm mistaken but my impression is that you view the Taitleann Cup less than favorably, calling it the 'Tall Chin' Cup on occasion. Genuine question, not looking to antagonise.

Best of luck to Lusmagh, Drumcullen and KK over the weekend, flying the flag for the county.
2 from 3 would be a savage return

Well done to lusmagh. Best of luck to our lads and k/k tomorrow
Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
Some really big match-ups in prospect tomorrow, starting with Slevin vs Mason … Conor Slevin wins this one! Then you have Cillian Kiely vs Eoin Cody (if Cody plays centre forward … he’s been v good out there all year) … a huge battle, might be pivotal. I expect TJ Reid to go in full forward vs Jordan Quinn same as he did in the Offaly match earlier in the year. At the other end of the field I think Conor Mahon can do damage vs Richie Reid, and James Gorman can also give Joey Holden plenty of it. Who will pick up Adrian Mullen? I expect it will be Enda Grogan, and I think he can do a good job there. The Corcoran lad midfield for Ballyhale is very good, I hope Spain or Kilmartin can keep tabs on him. A great game in prospect. Shamrocks are probably favourites for the all Ireland, but it’s not beyond Kilcormac to win this one. Bookies have Ballyhale by 4.
Best of luck to Kilcormac and Drumcullen tomorrow and well done Lusmagh today.

Not to forget Charlie Mitchell and Adam Screeney. Would be great to see both make a big impact.

Kk doing very well. Lots of wides from both teams. Peno was brilliantly taken by screeny . He's been played out in midfield to try and get him on ball. It's a right battle.
1-10 to 10 ht.
