Good win for Brosna Gaels over Tullamore in the Junior A final today.
Donal Shirley didn’t play and was named at 34 on the subs.
He came on for Tubber in the football last week so I’m wondering did he re-aggravate his injury or is there something else at play?

That's confusing. KK is Kilkenny.
Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
KK have played to potential probably in one game all year back in group stage, where they hit a big total, then they the won a very tough semi final playing (or being not let play to be honest) by a Birr team who done all tbe right things to win, but alas it ran out of energy at the very end and KK pounced as they do...Shinrone are coming off three tough games that they won, they were serious in second half V Coolderry, and seemed a few paces ahead of Belmont from the off in their semi final..I think they will repeat what Birr done to KK and just man/2man mark and take the risk, if you win the ball in the majorities of them scenarios you have the posession and scorers to shoot...they will be more physical than Birr naturally, and wont tire, thats for sure..I think Shinrone could win this, especially now pitch is a tad wet etc..I will stay away from the usual match ups...we all know them, as Brian Cody said one time once ball is thrown in its 15V 15 and tactics often go out the window..KK could and are due another 90/95% performance, if they dont produce it Shinrone could beat them..just my tuppence on it..

Has Shirley hurled at all this year ? I seen them play twice this year , one league game and one championship game and he didn’t feature in either. I heard he had transferred to a team in Dublin but obviously not if he was named in the squad yesterday

Hurled 30mins against kk in group game and went off injured and refused to play or train since despite training away with football team. Terrible poor form
Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
Is he trying to force a transfer ? Or does he think he’s too good to be hurling junior ? Interesting to see what happens over the winterRunner_bean wrote: ↑Sun Oct 19, 2025 3:43 pmHurled 30mins against kk in group game and went off injured and refused to play or train since despite training away with football team. As far as I am aware, he was medically not declared fit to play for Tubber vs Daingean in the football. They brought him on in the 2nd half although in a very limited capacity I believe.
Tubber would be the priority over Brosna Gaels, which is probably fair enough. Doesn't look like there was any chance of him featuring yesterday.
Tubber is obviously out on its own with regards to the parish rule and only play with Brosna Gaels as permission players. They can technically withdraw and become free agents to hurl for whoever they'd like. There's probably Shirley and 1/2 others that'd be a big help to Clara or whoever else if they went in with them. I don't believe Tubber have signalled any intent to do this at this point, only saying what is hypothetically possible.

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
As for the main event of the weekend, Shinrone certainly made an enjoyable game out of it in the 2nd half. Sometimes referees letting too much stuff go can result in an unenjoyable chaos, but I think the right balance was struck this afternoon. Tough winter hurling at times, with moments of brilliance sprinkled in.
Charlie Mitchell continues to develop and mature, and more often than not, it feels like he is the one that KK depend on arguably the most when the going gets rough. Screeney wad generally well marshalled, but he always looked dangerous and he had a few brilliant flicks and touches to set up teammates.
The fallow period in the 2nd half will cause some minor alarm for KK. Jordan Quinn has been excellent this year, but alarm bells were sounding in the KK backline under the high ball in the 2nd half.
Leinster will be extremely tough this year. Kilkenny champions away in the first round. For now, a 3rd title in a row is to be savoured. A rare feat, but I suspect it may become less rare for these KK lads over the next decade.

Just over 4,000. The actual attendance was announced, disappointed when media run with "a little over 4,000".
Combination of the 1pm start - because womens soccer has to have the 3pm TV slot -, no curtain raiser, and the wet morning all conspired against a more regular attendance.

Declared himself fit to play for 15mins with a wrist injury, how does that work , fair enough if a muscle injury but with a wrist injury your either good to go or not in my opnion.Faithfully wrote: ↑Sun Oct 19, 2025 4:48 pm As far as I am aware, he was medically not declared fit to play for Tubber vs Daingean in the football.
