Re: Club football 2025
Referee was right beside the player when he kicked the ball and he signalled for a 2 pointer. If the match was not being shown on Clubber no footage or still photo would have been available and it would not have been a talking point after game.
Where do ya draw the line on saying ref got it wrong. If ref gives a 14 yard free instead of a penalty and footage on Clubber shows foul was inside and should have been a penalty, can a losing team appeal the result because ref got it wrong?

There's a difference between a score being incorrectly awarded and incorrectly recorded.jimbob17 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 8:20 am There are precedents for and against and Rule 7.5 (n)(ii), where score was incorrectly recorded where it had significant impact on result applies.
Kilkenny Tipp is not relevant and very different as Tipperary won the game by either 2 or 3 points allowing for discrepancy.
If someone is sent off wrongly and its clearly shown to be case, then appeal is won.
If clearly shown that there was error in keeping the correct score that influenced result, then there is no reason why they wouldn't win appeal. And in interests of fairness, provided this is the case, they should win if fairness is applied.
Players put too much in all year for unfairness not to be applied in my opinion.

Re: Club football 2025
It’s a joke ,
If the game hinged on that you would agree with shamrock’s only if they had an issue at the time but they didn’t
That went over and not one person near me in OCP or on the field that I could see argued that score everyone moved on as normal,
Same with the point giving by the linesman everyone moved on , in comparison Belmont v kinitty same situation but players protested and the score was given.
Shamrock’s had the game in thier own hands the 6th point went over and Ferbane looked dejected they were essentially a defeated team
They themselves threw away the lead antics on the sideline and poor observation.
It was a goal and a 14 yard free brought back out for a 2 point that beat them
Shamrock’s had the chance to win when they was more than enough added on ontop of the added on time.
Ferbane had to take the defeat on the chin in the final last year there wasn’t one Offaly media outlet calling out the strange decision Eamon o Connor giving a free out for a trip on Leon fox that should have been a free in.
Refereeing wasn’t brilliant on Sunday but it was no where near as bad as shamrocks are making it out to be

Re: Club football 2025
Ferbane outscore shamrocks 1-6 to 0-2 in the last 10 minutes. Shamrocks are improving no doubt about it ,now it is concerning that Nigel Dunne is retiring as he was easily their best player on Sunday and even at 37 looked so good on the ball and he appears to be their leader, what a player for the last 20 years, they will need an influx of youth to fill that massive void but they have a big pick and are generally good with talent coming through.
Ferbane are now ready for the semi final, a massive battle, oisin kelly was majestic when it mattered most, what a specimen he is. Jack clancy is direct and robust and I do feel ferbane got motoring when it mattered most in that game. Kyle to come back in at Midfield and edenderry will have their work cut out . The big question and the big blue wave is can tullamore be stopped? Maybe but only if ferbane find something but even still it looks unlikely.
All this talk of shamrocks and their management and the appeal and all this is taking away from a fantastic game. The result will stand , ferbane will keep going just like they did in the final 10 minutes on Sunday.

So if the ball ends up in the back of the net after a goal is scored and a team is given one point for it and it affects the result, are you suggesting that is OK? It is a similar thing.Bord na Mona man wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 9:22 amThere's a difference between a score being incorrectly awarded and incorrectly recorded.jimbob17 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 8:20 am There are precedents for and against and Rule 7.5 (n)(ii), where score was incorrectly recorded where it had significant impact on result applies.

A point was scored, there is no doubt about that, confirmed by both referee and umpire. It was incorrectly recorded as a two pointer and I believe there is evidence to show that. There is no more to it. Shamrocks were unfairly treated and the allocated score affected the result of the game.
So here is what likely happens next. Shamrocks appeal. Offaly GAA reject appeal out of hand as it is an inconvenience to their running of championship and they'd simply prefer not to have to bother with the inconvenience. Shamrocks appeal to CCC or DRA and will likely be found to win appeal. In that light all gets delayed further. In that sense, Offaly might be best off to accept appeal and acknowledge the error and run a replay as has happened in other counties.
Im not in any way connected with Shamrocks and have no 'skin in the game' but with a long time involvement in GAA, the one thing you'd like to see applied is fairness in such instances and the Shamrocks players deserve fairness. The players have trained probably since last January or February for that game and have been wrongly done here. It is a clear cut error. It doesnt matter a damn who protested or didnt protest at the time. If Offaly supporters hadnt gone and sat on the pitch in 1998, would that had meant Offaly did not deserve replay. Absolutely not. The reason there was a replay was because the rules were not applied. You cant have it both ways and in interest of fairness, the Shamrocks club are right to follow this through as their team were unfairly treated, due to a score that was recorded wrongly.

Re: Club football 2025
Jim bob have you not been reading anything here or anywhere else one appeal similar to this has proved successful then the gaa have come out saying they were wrong to award a replay and other appeals have been unsuccessful it’s a waste of everybody’s time the semi finals will go ahead regardless if they do appeal to the DRA
Shamrocks need to suck it up a decision went against them but they were up by 6 with 7 left and that’s on them and I believe most of the people involved have accepted this except for a few in power out there
Jesus lads every match would be appealed over decisions made if we go down this road.

Re: Club football 2025
Nonsense , that score was well accounted for many times throughout the game
Moral of the story here shamrock’s blew a good lead
Thier sideline fucked up , that’s on shamrocks
if that was the last score of the game fair enough challenge it but it wasn’t it even close
Going back to Offaly sitting on the pitch they protested we don’t know if there was going to be a replay otherwise because it worked.
This is just sour grapes.
How about we replay last years county final
Get Meath and louth to contest an another Leinster final again before the end year because Louth got robbed the last time they met before this year
It won’t stop if this is justified a replay every single game will be over analysed
If clubber didn’t stream it there wouldn’t be any appeal. I don’t think shamrocks would appeal if they managed to draw level in the last minute.
Shamrocks had thier chance to win it they didn’t
Can’t have any complaints about a 2 pointer when they had 6 score lead and let it slip

Re: Club football 2025
There's hardly a weekend that goes by without a score being incorrectly awarded or not given. Umpires regularly make the wrong call, especially in hurling. Look at the amount of hawkeye calls that contradict the officials.jimbob17 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 4:18 pmSo if the ball ends up in the back of the net after a goal is scored and a team is given one point for it and it affects the result, are you suggesting that is OK? I've literally had scores of my own waved wide by umpires that were either incompetent or were helping the opposition.
There is no literally zero chance of Shamrocks having any success with an appeal to any CCC or DRA.

If the ball ended up in the back of the net and only one point is given for it then that would be grounds for a successful appeal as the referee would have incorrectly recorded the score rather than incorrectly awarding a score.jimbob17 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 4:18 pmSo if the ball ends up in the back of the net after a goal is scored and a team is given one point for it and it affects the result, are you suggesting that is OK? If you want to open up this can of worms then in Ferbane’s group game against Rhode which they lost by one point, a 2 point shot from outside the arc was attempted with the last kick of the game but despite going over the bar, only one point was awarded because the referee deemed the goalkeeper had gotten his fingers to the ball. Having viewed the footage, the goalkeeper did not touch the ball.
Re: Club football 2025
Ferbane won a terrific game of football.
They had a score awarded to them that was incorrect on the field of play. Mistakes happen.
Shamrocks were well up near the end of the game and blew the head gasket in not holding on. Mistakes happen.
No offence to anyone on here from Shamrocks-a very good, progressive club who do their very best to promote Gaelic Football and Hurling-but lads take your bating and move on.
This appeal is going nowhere, as per the rules of the Association.

Re: Club football 2025
Agree with that. Is there any confirmation if they appealed ? I would imagine that hearing should take place as soon as possible even if it is to just dismiss the case

The 2 pointer scored early in the game, had no bearing on the result. Shamrocks lost a game they were odds on to win. Their sideline official who showed poor judgement, and their late collapse was the reason they lost.G91 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 4:47 pm Nonsense , that score was well accounted for many times throughout the game

Re: Club football 2025
Shamrocks are 100% right to appeal this.
The game was lost by a single point. A single point. And yet we all saw it – a so-called “2 pointer” that was blatantly inside the arc. By the rulebook, that’s not up for debate. If it’s inside the arc, it’s a 1 point score. End of story. The ref got it wrong, plain and simple, and that wrong call directly swung the result.
People saying “just get over it” – would you be saying that if it was your club on the wrong end of it? Don’t think so. Rules are there for a reason. If we don’t hold officials to account and appeal when things are black and white like this, what’s the point of even having them?
This isn’t about sour grapes, it’s about fairness. Shamrocks put in a shift and lost on a technicality that should never have stood. That’s not opinion – that’s fact.
So yeah, Shamrocks are dead right to appeal. And if that rattles a few cages, so be it. Better to stand up for yourselves than just roll over and let a mistake go unchallenged.
