The worst part about the “two pointer” in question is how close Chris Dwyer was to the kicker. Standing less than 5 yards away with an unobstructed view!

Shameful decision from Shamrocks to appeal the result. 6 points up with 20 minutes to go. They need to look into the mirror and not into the rule book.

Leaves a sour taste alright if every club done this there would be appeals left right and centre Offaly need to be very careful here or a massive can of worms could be opened

Whatever about the merits of appealing the 2 pointer that was given, if article in leinster express is to be believed, Shamrocks are going to protest at the standard of refereeing in the match after reviewing a number of incidents which they believe also went against them.
No doubt Shamrocks won't be highlighting any decision that went their way during the match, of which I'm sure there were plenty.
Reflects very poorly on Shamrocks club if they go down that route. Every losing team in the history of the GAA could point out decisions that went against them over 60 minutes.

In response, can Ferbane object to the ref awarding a free in instead of a free out and black card at the end of the county final?

Or, can Ballycommon object to the ref playing a minute over time in last year’s quarter-final which allowed Shamrocks to level the game and ultimately win on penalties?

Clubber will have look at introducing VAR. It’ll save the clubs and county board a fortune in legal bills

Shamrocks management have resigned in protest so if they somehow won the appeal they’d have to find a new manager

I am not sure exact specifics of appeal. But if there is clear video evidence that a one pointer was given as a two pointer, then why wouldnt they appeal? It is similar scenario to a wide being counted as a goal or point. And if this is the case, they should win the appeal imo. There is a responsibility on umpires and referee on getting the score right and not giving scores where footage shows clearly that there was no score.

Curious to know why you think the appeal would succeed given a number of recent appeals of the same nature have failed?

Kilkenny didn’t even bother with an appeal after the fiasco against Tipperary.

There are precedents for and against and Rule 7.5 (n)(ii), where score was incorrectly recorded where it had significant impact on result applies.

Kilkenny Tipp is not relevant and very different as Tipperary won the game by either 2 or 3 points allowing for discrepancy.

If someone is sent off wrongly and its clearly shown to be case, then appeal is won.

If clearly shown that there was error in keeping the correct score that influenced result, then there is no reason why they wouldn't win appeal. And in interests of fairness, provided this is the case, they should win if fairness is applied.

Players put too much in all year for unfairness not to be applied in my opinion.
