Frank you sour man...Birr would wear a second jersey no worries at all but pretty confident it has never came to it where they really had too and if they did they would.

Birr had a cream white and green away jersey
The footballers ended up with them

Some response there Frank.frankthetank wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 11:57 pmLiterally the immature response I was expecting from you to be honest.greenairfield wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 11:42 pm When you win 4 all irelands you dont have too so I heard....![]()
Is there a valid reason?
Let’s tease this out for a second-
Birr and Coolderry qualify for county final. It’s live on TV. The Tuesday before the final TG4 and Offaly GAA decide the jerseys are too similar. They declare we have to toss for home jersey. Cooderry say “No Sir, we changed for the group game in August”.
Offaly GAA say that’s fair. Birr say “Shit we don’t actually have an alternate set because some guy on UibhFhaili.com says we dont need one cos we won 4 All Irelands.”
Offaly GAA say “Ring Crinkle and see what they can do for you”
Seriously some day this will become an issue.
I remember a county semi-final one year between Coolderry and Kinnitty (I think) where Offaly said one of ye has to change jerseys as they are too similar. Neither team had an alternate set so they wore home and away Offaly jerseys.
Imagine Birr in a county final and couldn’t wear their own club jersey!!!
And just in case you’re wondering how it works:
Teams enter into home and away jersey arrangement. For first game they toss to see who wears home jersey first. Then they alternate in every subsequent championship match.
Unless of course both teams have similar home sets but away sets that are totally different from each other. E.g Coolderry & Kilcormac/Killoughey.
In that case they can both wear their alternate strip for each game. Just like K/K and Coolderry did in last year’s semi-final.

Where’s the sourness? I pointed out that teams change their strip vs Birr and Birr don’t seem to reciprocate. And I asked why.
How is that being sour? Seriously how?

I’m sure some of the Birr lads would feel at home in the Crinkle jerseyfrankthetank wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 11:57 pmOffaly GAA say “Ring Crinkle and see what they can do for you”greenairfield wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 11:42 pm When you win 4 all irelands you dont have too so I heard....![]()
In all fairness, it wouldn’t have changed the result if Birr wore kilts and belly tops yesterday evening, they were far superior to our lads.
They should have a alternate set of jerseys but I wouldn’t be too fussed over it, I doubt our lads were just told ‘you’re playing Birr, we must change’

Frank nobody asked kinnitty or coolderry to change jerseys...they made that decision themselves. Simple as. Your raving.
While both have green in their jersey they have played against each other in normal jerseys.

In the Senior B championship Carrig&Riverstown, Clara and Lusmagh have qualified for the semi-finals with 2 rounds to spare.
With Kilcormac/Klloughey yet to play Coolderry they look heavy favourites to take the 4th spot.
Clodiagh Gaels vs Coolderry in the relegation final.

Going by the respective performances today St Rynaghs may be getting concerned regarding their upcoming game vs Kinnitty.
Belmont and Kinnitty was a real blood and thunder proper championship game.
K/K vs St Rynaghs was like a glorified challenge game.
Aaron Kenny won’t be available either after a straight red card today.
Won’t be a game for the faint hearted

Kinnitty vs Belmont may have been blood and thunder but it was low level stuff. Football scoreline on a perfect evening for hurling. Rynaghs vs kilcormac first half was much higher standard then it died off when kk took over.

Kinnitty will certainly feel hard done by this evening. Some of the decisions were curious to say the least. Smash and grab from Belmont who’ve had quite the turnaround from last season but it’s hard to see them going too far in the knockout stages.
KK-Rynaghs was a bit of a non-event. Meandered along without any realistic possibility of Rynaghs winning. I thought they turned in a very disappointing display for what was a knockout game from their perspective. A long spell in the darkness awaits.
As for KK they still aren’t humming the way they were this time last year, if they do go on to win out Offaly I’m not sure I can see them going any further in Leinster than they did last year which would have been the goal at the beginning of the year.

Carrig & Riverstown motoring well. If they were to make the step up to senior A would they hold their own ??
