Age shouldn't, but it will. You think he's going to train his arse off to be a panel member at 32?

Depends on the player really again I know tj ried is a different breed but he’s the right attitude Micheal Murphy’s no spring chicken either I’m sure it helps winning provincial titles and being a serious contender for an all Ireland , as for joey I’d be doubtful, I think his last time in the Offaly setup didn’t go very well.

In all honesty I think if the team is going well would be a big factor to stay in the best condition and give it everything and the flip side that one player could be a very important player not just for county but for club aswell

Belmont beat Rynagh's 4-12 to 1-15 in Lusmagh in 2012, and by 0-20 to 0-12 in Tullamore. And there was a draw in 2019 in Birr, but Friday was just their third win over the neighbours from across the canal.

Ryangh’s are effectively out of the championship and that team seems over the hill.

When was the last time Belmont beat Ryangh’s in the championship? Must be more than 10 years ago.

Far be it for me to defend our dear local paper, but since the Covid and Brian Lowry went to the Leinster Express and subsequently chose a different career path, there is just one full time sports journalist engaged by the paper. (I'm taking the Midland Tribune and the Tullamore Tribune as the one paper.) So it's gonna be difficult for that sole journalist to offer in depth analysis on everything. And that's just the economic reality for local newspapers, for whom year after year the circulation numbers get fewer.

Only match report from senior b in round one was from the Clodiagh Gaels and Carrig game, and none from yesterdays game at all.
The only coverage/review available online will be ‘team X will be happy/relieved to win and team Y will be disappointed but could win their next game but could also lose their next game or else they might draw it’.
Very little coverage on social media either, other than updates from Offaly GAA every 10-15 minutes.

I could be wrong, but Killoughey Senior Bs used just one of last year's Junior A side against Lusmagh, in the person of Richie Bracken.

Carrig bet kk.
Clara with two wins.
Lusma with 2 wins also.
The impact of kk seniors been down men being felt as both senior b and junior A losing.

I had a feeling that may be the case alright, although I have seen young Liam White (son of Damian) from Killoughey at a good few games taking notes, but I haven’t seen any of his articles online.
Perhaps they are printed in the papers only.

Liam White did two of the weekend's Senior B games- Carrig v Killoughey and Clara v Clodiagh- both reports are up online.

Tonight’s win for Birr makes it very likely they top the group unless Ballinamere were to beat them by 8 points if my maths are correct.

At the other end, Seir Kieran are on their way to the relegation playoff likely facing Kinnity or Rynaghs.

Tullamore vs Clareen was just a poor game. Both teams are miles off being contenders for semi-finals and further on. At times it felt like Tullamore were going to win because they were just less bad than Clareen.

Tullamore did have moments where their running game with off the ball overlaps looked impressive but it’s hard to know if they have the skill set to implement this against the better teams. They have some athletic players with a sprinkling of genuine pace. But they just aren’t beating Coolderry or Birr to be perfectly honest. They’ll be content to stay up.

Clareen were more traditional with a long ball strategy. Luke Carey had a great game scoring 0-05 from play but he hid concede some crucial frees. A mention to Kevin Dunne who hurled like a demon at midfied and scored a great (and brave) goal. I know Clareen are a proud club but maybe relegation to Senior B might not be any harm. A year of winning games might stand to them.

Why do Birr never change their jersey for any game in a colour clash. I’ve seen Coolderry and Kinnitty both wear an alternate jersey against them in the last few years yet they don’t ever seem to reciprocate?

So what happens when you meet a team like Ballyhale with 9?

Literally the immature response I was expecting from you to be honest.

Is there a valid reason?

Let’s tease this out for a second-

Birr and Coolderry qualify for county final. It’s live on TV. The Tuesday before the final TG4 and Offaly GAA decide the jerseys are too similar. They declare we have to toss for home jersey. Cooderry say “No Sir, we changed for the group game in August”.

Offaly GAA say that’s fair. Birr say “Shit we don’t actually have an alternate set because some guy on UibhFhaili.com says we dont need one cos we won 4 All Irelands.”

Offaly GAA say “Ring Crinkle and see what they can do for you”

Seriously some day this will become an issue.

I remember a county semi-final one year between Coolderry and Kinnitty (I think) where Offaly said one of ye has to change jerseys as they are too similar. Neither team had an alternate set so they wore home and away Offaly jerseys.

Imagine Birr in a county final and couldn’t wear their own club jersey!!!

And just in case you’re wondering how it works:
Teams enter into home and away jersey arrangement. For first game they toss to see who wears home jersey first. Then they alternate in every subsequent championship match.

Unless of course both teams have similar home sets but away sets that are totally different from each other. E.g Coolderry & Kilcormac/Killoughey.

In that case they can both wear their alternate strip for each game. Just like K/K and Coolderry did in last year’s semi-final.
