Hurling club poll
Hurling club poll
I’m doing this poll purely out of curiosity so I’m not looking for any negative comments or anything like that.

Gave Lusmagh a vote. Always liked their style of hurling. Really battling numbers wise and gave K/K a great game in last year’s Senior B semi final.

Lusmagh get my vote too! Clareen an honourable mention.
Lusmagh is an amazing club fighting against the odds of small numbers, lack of finance, social demographics etc. After my own clubs results, I always look next for theirs.
Think they are fielding two adult hurling teams this year? Their best team being a very competitive senior B team. Not too sure about football this year but they fielded a team last year I think. Perhaps somebody can confirm. Remarkable.
I’m too young to remember them winning the championship in 1989. Imagine, beating another small club, Seir Kieran, by one single point. That must have been electric. And emotional. Imagine also being the home of John Troy!
If every club in Offaly had their attitude, we’d be in a good place.

Both tiny but proud clubs who need everybody pulling together to have any shot at survival.
In big clubs like ourselves, Kilcormac, Birr, Ferbane, Tullamore etc, lads can afford to move abroad or stop playing for a year or two when they like, knowing that someone else is there to fill in.
In smaller clubs like those, lads know that a couple of lads lost could decimate a team, and a parish.
John Troy Jim Troy Joachim Kelly Brendan Kelly Brendan Bermingham; Johnny Dooley Joe Dooley Billy Dooley Kevin Kinahan Joe Bergin. What a list between the 2. Both also pulling from 1 small national school each.
Unfortunately I believe numbers in both are dwindling even further.

Re: Hurling club poll
Absolutely massive win for Lusmagh this morning over KK.
Poor result for our own lads against Clara, the step up was always going to be hard.
In fairness, we didn’t spare anyone and brought in subs in the Senior A yesterday while KK spared lads, knowing if they were used they would see very little action for the rest of the year.
Very disappointing that there has been no match report up from any journalist from either game.
