Was impressed with Kildare's structure today. Strong down the middle and everyone working hard for each other. Plenty able to take a score too.
They will be targeting our game in Newbridge no doubt.

Nice to see Laois put on their backside again. Some strange selection choices and a bit late to make changes on the line when the game was going away from them.

A tasty Joe McDonagh next year. Each of Antrim, Laois and Carlow will really fancy it but Westmeath, Down and London will have a big say too

Delighted for Kildare today.
Fully deserving of their win.
The Boran brothers were outstanding at 3 and 6, made some tremendous interceptions in the first half.
Will come as no surprise to followers of the Fitzgibbon Cup as Cian Boran was superb for DCU there.
Arguably the best of the Boran clan is Conan who missed out with injury.
They looked to have a far better system than Laois, who ran down blind alleys and misplaced passes too often.
Kildare’s limitations also worked as a strength, as they were less inclined to shoot from far and instead played the ball in.
The Laois half backs and midfielders had a long puck competition with the wind in the first half. Accuracy was optional.

It seems all is not right in Laois hurling.
Enda Rowland walked early in the year and Cha Dwyer walked after the Carlow game 2 weeks ago, because he was taken off after 60 minutes.

Aaron Dunphy has been Laois’ talisman for the last few years and was left off today.
Ryan Mullaney and Tom Cuddy were also left off, while Podge Delaney started at 6, having been dropped for the last few games.
James Duggan scored 5-2 against Kerry in the group. He saw 5 minutes today.

The Joe Mc will be a bearpit next year to try get out of.
Thank God we aren’t down there.
It will be very hard for Laois to get out of, especially given that they are operating from Division 2A next year, alongside Kerry, Meath, Derry, London, Mayo and Westmeath.

Finally, I believe 22 year old Laois captain David Dooley who plays for Rosenallis actually lives in the parish of Geashill, can anyone confirm?
He has played underage rugby for Ireland and started off underage rugby for Tullamore.

Those who would like to see lights in Glenisk OCP or Grant Heating SBP should note the state of the Portlaoise pitch today. Worn from being played on afternoon and evening. A patchwork of sand. Players slipping and sliding all over the place. Barely playable.

I'd prefer OCP and SBP the way they currently are all year around, thank you.

Newbridge is the new portlaoise any idea how many games have been played there this year as a neutral venue

Delighted to see Dublin win today, for Leinster hurling especially.
Although a part of me feels it isn’t right. Should we not just get rid of the All Ireland series and let the Munster teams play each other on repeat while they talk about how brilliant they are and how Munster hurling is the greatest thing to ever happen?

Lost to Dublin by 3 in Parnell Park, and beat them by a point in the league in Croker.
I’m not saying we are favourites to beat Limerick if we were to meet them, but it just shows what can be possible.
Small moments can change a game.
If Cillian Kiely’s shot hits the inside of the post rather than the outside, we are 4 behind Galway with 30 minutes to play, with a spare man and the wind at our backs, and suddenly a 14 point defeat is something completely different.

People need to get away from this craic of a 'spare man' being a silver bullet.

Losing a man galvanised Dublin. I thought that it was Crummy who walked would be a disaster for them. But Dublin went about their business very well. Didn't use their full-forward line for the remainder of the first half.

Losing Burke galvanised Galway. They'd have beaten Offaly regardless of ball going inside or outside the post. That's 'if me aunt had balls' level of comment.

Most critical thing when hurling with 15 against 14 is that you KEEP YOUR SHAPE. Offaly didn't do that against Galway and made a balls of it against Antrim. And it's something I'd say they'd do differently if they had those periods back again. Which they don't.

I have to say that I am glad Limerick hurlers are gone. All of JP’s cash could not account for tired legs v 14 man Dublin. The Limerick side are gone for a while, thought John Kiely made a generous post match interview on RTÉ..

I think Cork and Tipp will contest the AI Final. They will be the big 2 in Munster in 2026 and beyond.
