Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Ya'll are laughing but frankly having to play a team from New York who's population is 100 times more than us is ridiculous, something needs to be done, look at poor Cavan and Monaghan in the hurling, never stood a chance

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Not being flippant about New Yorks inclusion I think they should play in the league
If they want to compete in senior competitions you can go on about logistics ect
But travelling from Cork to Derry isn't exactly
A picnic.
Also maybe the Connaught football should be an open draw so they could draw London.
There is enough cash in the game
But as you know it will be wasted on another commity.
It's just my opinion.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
I suppose a few Palestinian flags wouldn't go amiss either.
Beginning to worry about the injuries.
Diarmuid Egan doesnt appear to be durable enough for intercounty football at the moment and has missed large chunks, not sure whether Ed Cullen or Cathal D throwing any shapes.
Jack Mc is clearly struggling in midfield, I would have moved Higgins in there with 20 to go and looked at Dalton at half forward and with draw Jack. Cillian Bourke was outstanding .
Lots of decent displays against Laois and a couple of shocking late decisions cost us the win, but 3-18 is a big score to concede and a couple of defenders were off their men as was the tracking from further out.
Our kickout was underpressure throughout and would have liked to see a couple floated out on Higgins who had the beating of their no 5 in the air if given a chance.
New York did well against Galway but our lads will be on red alert for this one and won't want to add their scalp to Leitrims!

Not close to the camp, but NY has to be thinking: ‘If London can do it, so can we’.
Hoping the combination of the ‘secondary competition’ and the favorite’s tag (the term makes my head explode) doesn’t cause this to be a big problem.
Was at the Leitrim game. Was nice to see a win after a few close calls over many years. No fan of penalties though (not that many are). It hardly dampened the celebrations and why would it?!

Nah won't be a problem, we're playin to win this competition and with a full team out we will still go far, foot probably came off the gas a bit the last day after winning the first 2 games.. I expect offaly to be 11 points favourites and look after that easily, we have struggled against "weaker" opposition but that was away from home.. we'll be perfectly comfortable in this oneKevin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 7:06 pm Not close to the camp, but NY has to be thinking: ‘If London can do it, so can we’.

Reasonable enough. Also we seem to be taking this seriously (as we should).
If the ‘tradition’ of making hard work of straightforward tasks is for any reason adhered to, anything can happen and has happened. Best we slam the door on that early on.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Management extremely reluctant to use the bench at all. Cathal Donoghue in particular was brilliant underage, motm in u20 all ireland final and looked to be a nailed on senior but has hardly featured this year and been overtaken by 18 year old cillian bourke, who was immense last Saturday. Tough ask for him to combine actively doing the leaving cert with knock out inter county but hes badly needed. Offaly very lucky with how the draw worked out. Laois finished behind us on point difference and got Westmeath away. Offaly should hammer New York. It's their first game of the year. New York aren't strong at all despite having a few county players and Offaly will surely be operating on a different planet to them.ah lethimoutwithit wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 1:12 pm I suppose a few Palestinian flags wouldn't go amiss either.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
We have had a guess the crowd competition
For Saturdays game in the local pub
At 15 euro a pop and minors playing on Sunday could be a very sparse crowd
Not as low as the waterford Offaly game but probably not too far off it .
There should have been 1 ticket two games
For 20 euro no concessions I think that would be fair .
But as you know common sense is like a politician Telling something straight

Great result
A couple of exposure as to how small we are
Hopefully Fermanagh away I need chainsaws oil
Have a good week

Professional performance and we’ll take that. Dylan Hyland was back to his best and ran the game.
Let’s see what the draw brings on Monday.
Westmeath beat Laois well today. They are ones to be watched.

Kildare, Limerick or Fermanagh away the 3 possibilities for the quarter final.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Ruari did very well again when he came on. Appreciate that New York seem to give him loads of space but he still used it or got a score every time.
Jordan hayes excellent again as was Cathal Flynn. Dylan excellent throughout.
Hope we don’t get Kildare. They’ll hardly want to be beaten by us 3 times in the one year.

Would be some going to beat Kildare 3 times in a year.
Could be a double header with Kildare and Dublin in the hurling.
