Gerry Cooney, who was acting Offaly football manager while Kevin Kilmurray was suspended earlier this year, has indicated that he would be interested in taking up the vacant Faithful County post.
Daingean clubman Kilmurray stepped down from the Offaly helm last week after a relatively successful year, which saw his charges reach the Bank of Ireland Leinster SFC final.
As well as taking on a caretaker role for a period this season, Cooney has managed the Meath U21s and clubside Dunboyne.
The Tullamore man also has an All-Ireland medal on his CV as a member of the Royals panel that won the Sam Maguire Cup in 1988.
Cooney, who has been an Offaly selector for the past two years, revealed that the county board had not been in contact with regard to the position but that he would be willing to talk if an approach was made.
Gerry Cooney maybe?
