Cian Farrell walked of his own volition after he wasn't named on 26 for first league game. He was not left off the squad. At the time I maintained he was needed and should be in the 26 at least but as it proved, we have got on fine without him. I still believe he has something to offer (as have a few more) and next year is another year and he is still young. Sometimes we are not privy to what is going on behind the scenes with respect to attitude and application and in an inter county set up, that is hugely important. Maybe that seems like a gross change of tact on my part, from where I sat with it earlier in league, but in fairness to management, performances and results will always frame the narrative, and we have got them this year without Cian Farrell. I'd only love him to come back with the bit between his teeth next year looking to prove management wrong with renewed energy for inter county football.

Bryant, Tierney, and Hyland / O'Neill (whomever start inside) have acquitted themselves fairly well overall and if the experts on the Sunday Game / Off The Ball are willing to laud our forwards and our movement, then we should be willing to accept we are not too far off the mark.

There will be others in likes of Ruairi McNamee, Kellaghan, Gallagher, Sawyer, Dalton and Tynan who may be eying spots next year and they will have their work to do to get there - and Nigel Dunne might keep going too so who knows. Farrell will need to show he wants it next year to get back in. Always one or two that may become options up from U20 team so we wont be too badly off.

With likes of Bourke, D Egan and Dempsey coming back into reckoning with a few more, we should have good competition for places moving forwards.

With regards to what was said on Midlands radio, it is the prerogative of Kelly to say what he thinks and I wouldnt see anything wrong with what he said whatsoever to be fair to him.

We can all guess what Declan Kelly was thinking, but ultimately only the man himself knows. If he had singled out any player outside the panel by name, then I would say that was petty and un-necessary. He didn't, he didn't say anything that you wouldn't expect any manager to say, and it's all a "nothing to see here" situation from what I can see.
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

there is a massive amount of money bet on gaa every week.the northern boys wouldnt shy away from putting it down. and it takes a fairly large amount of money to move a price in or out. i know a few fairly successful gaa punters from the north of the country who bet 4 figure sums on outcomes most weeks. and its usually in the lower leagues. and there was big big money on kildare(specially the handicap) in both offaly games. i often get a heads up on some wrongly priced in their opinion games. usually a lack of ambition,or a heavy weeks training, on one side or an unknown injury or that.

I wasn't upset about Kildare being favourites. Offaly's win in Tellamore was framed as being a minor surprise. Kildare still topped the table and their late losses in the campaign were explained as them easing up having already done the groundwork for promotion.

Their recent Croke Park record isn't great, but people still consider them more of a Croke Park team than Offaly.

According to the Leinster Leader this week (Kildare paper), Sunday's loss for Kildare meant that their record is 3 wins out of 23.

Since 2014, they have beaten Wexford and Westmeath twice!!!

I wouldn’t be confident on that unfortunately. Good player and all but how many chances can you give a player? I can’t see either Kelly or Harte giving him another go, only if it was a new management team. I do know that there is certainly a personality clash there but I won’t go into details.

The fact is that the current Offaly squad won the league and we are in a very positive place right now. Celebrate the squad we have. They are doing great.

I wouldn’t be too worried about whatever score Meath put up against Carlow. Was always going to be a non game.

Let’s hope we can get our revenge for 2019. A game we should have won in Navan. Hopefully a big crowd there also.

Definitely left a win behind us in 2019. Meath will be favoured to win in Navan the next day.

Look we have the players to beat Meath
And they have plenty of talent too
If we beat Meath will we not end up playing the Dubs in a semi final in Navsn because semi finals not being played in Croke park
Let's enjoy the sun get a good crowd up to Navsn .

I’d be amazed if an Offaly v Dublin semi final would be in Navan. That ground should be condemned.

I presume it would be Portlaoise.

Going to be a hard call as Newbridge has 2 games only 8.5 k capacity this weekend depends on who wins between Louth and Loais..
Remember we play Galway in hurling in O'Connor park the same weekend as the
Semi final.
Guards might have a say .
Got to beat Meath first

Have a good chance I think. 2 of Meaths best forwards out with ACL injuries in recent weeks. Never nice to see.

Offaly will likely field the same team that started the league final.

Sawyer back on the 26 apparently. Haven't seen anything to suggest he can make an impact, maybe the hard ground suits him though.

The only thing I would be worried about is that if Meath play a bit more direct than KIldare did. Our full back line is small and haven't been tested against a team that plays very direct.
