We’re all part of Mickey’s Army
We’re all off to Division 2
And we’re gonna shake them up
When we win the Tailteann Cup
Cause Offaly are the greatest football team

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Harte said in one of his first interviews that avoiding the Tailteann cup was the best way to avoid playing badly in it. Looks like it might happen.
Make no mistake, this is all Harte. The switch has been totally flipped. He has a team believing in themselves.. not being told they are not good enough. 3 players started today that last years management didn’t want near the squad.
I’d be a little worried about the squad depth at the moment though. The subs that came on are a bit off it yet. Higgins did pretty well though.

Super win. Manner of it was the most pleasing. Best team by far though could've been lot closer. Dunican pulled two two pointers off crossbar and Laois missed good few frees their goalie would normally score. In a 5pt win, that's huge. Laois probably
On plus side, good work ethic. Obvious changes made difference. Bourke and Tierney made good intros last week and showed worth today. Tierney is bit of enigma - doesn't look like Co senior physically but always seems to come up with goods - good on ball and always tries to do right thing and is always busy. Outside of his 3pts had a big hand in a good few other scores for others. Amazing last years management didnt want him in the panel. Bryant did well and needed confidence boost after last week. O'Neil and Hyland excellent again. They are quality footballers on any level.
At back Dunican was excellent again, Hayes played his best 2 senior games for Offaly in last week, Egan solid with good pace again, and Dempsey for most part marshalled backs well, though Mark Barry and Coffey got plenty of joy also for Laois.
Thought Gallagher struggled a bit but is young and has time to physically fill out yet for this level. That said, will be happy with his score. Think Higgins as replacement influence was huge in second half for Offaly as Laois were getting lots of ball in middle until he appeared. Higgins Has been excellent club player for years when around and I'd find a place for him in midfield with Bourke after today. If Ruairi Mc is injured, McEvoy could move to half forward line.
A win v Antrim really gives us chance at promotion now so hopefully crowd turns out for the lads. Great win by all involved.

He did indeed say we won’t have to worry about the Tailteann Cup if we can get promoted.
Just last week, despite an emphatic win he said it would count for nothing if we didn’t follow it up with another win this week.
There’s a reason the man is one of the greatest managers the game has ever seen.
He’s a born winner.

He is a legend of the game and the first two results back that up. Declan Kelly can't be too bad either!

Declan Kelly did win an U 20 All Ireland football title. He is still a good manager.greenairfield wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 10:37 am He is a legend of the game and the first two results back that up. Declan Kelly can't be too bad either!
Two good wins to date, Mickey Harte and himself are a good combination.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Well done to all yesterday, plenty of cheap shots from lads throwing the plaudits at Mickey Harte.
Well done to all involved at a time when there was plenty of negativity coming from many if not all of the county.
But clearly the combination of the new backroom team and the existing manager plus players adapting well to the new rules has gelled to give 2 fairly impressive performances.
There will be huge confidence and the opportunity to build on it with the break next weekend.
However, there is no doubt that the luck has handed them 2 great opening fixtures with SLigo minus key men, Laois minus key men and also coming in cold as they had no fixture last weekend.
All that aside, yesterdays performaance was good, and credit to Diarmuid Egan/Shane Tierney in particular. Paddy Dunican has been a huge plus.
Negatives, Jack Mcevoy had a pretty poor game and it was a case of robbing peter to pay paul by shifting Hayes to centre back. Cillian Bourke as expected had his work cut out but acquitted himself well. Bracken or Furlong will free up Hayes to move bac into midfield. R Rgan not a corner back.
But the forward line was the real deal yesterday, and especially the first half where Dylan was a little quieter, the rest of the lads stepped up.
Robbie Gallagher took a nice score but not ready for this level, but is if Sawyer is going to be continually accomadated.
So fair play to the mgt and players, they have restored pride and faith in the Offaly team after the trauma of the Tailteann, and no one will be more happy and relieved than Declan Kelly who is first and foremost and devoted Offaly GAA man.
As Mullane says, "Take a bow Son".

Has anyone a full list of offaly players involved with sigerson/fitzgibbon this year?
Bonus points if you include lads involved in trench/ryan cup!

Who's idea was it not to seed the team promoted from senior B and the team that lost the relegation final. A terrible decision that has ended with both of them drawn in the same group. Two very different looking groups.

Watch the Ballinagar lads will make the panel so Declan Kelly can make sure they don’t drink at their dinner dance

3 lads out with hamstring injuries. These new rules are causing serious hamstring issues. Kyle Higgins John Furlong and Aidan Bracken come in.ah lethimoutwithit wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 4:39 pmLazy journalism.....wrong thread.
