Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Id be keeping Killian Bourke in reserve, lad is still in school and having impact off the bench is critical.
Problem is with that and I;ll be contradicting myself is that Tierney and Dunne aside we have a very liited bench.
Marcus Dalton will most likely be a decent Offaly player but based on club form, and even U20 last year, has a bit to go.
Diarmuid Egan was fairly limited and Sawywr?? Not for me. Darragh Flynn was playing SIgerson last night with Athlone and is well ahead of this lad, he also performed well for Ferbane, I'm fairly sure he wasnt asked in. Jack Bryant showed well enough but needs to deliver now at this point. Would start him v Laois.
Sligo team in Tailteann Cup final:
Aidan Devaney; Evan Lyons; Eddie McGuinness (0-01); Paul McNamara; Brian Cox; Darragh Cummins (0-02); Nathan Mullen (0-01); Paul Kilcoyne; Canice Mulligan (1-00); Cian Lally; Alan McLoughlin; Sean Carrabine (0-04, 0-02f); Lee Deignan (0-02); Patrick O'Connor (1-01); Niall Murphy (0-03, 0-02f)
Sligo v Offaly
SLIGO: A. Devaney; P. McNamara, E. McGuinness, E. Lyons; B. Cox, J. Lavin, L. Casserly; C. Mulligan (c), P. Kilcoyne; C. Lally, A. McLoughlin, E. Smith; A. Reilly, P. O’Connor, P. Spillane.
Subs: L. Deignan for E. Smith (h-t); R. Sloyan for L. Casserly, N. Murphy for P. Spillane (both 52); L. Towey for J. Lavin (65); O. Flynn for C. Lally (66).
Sligo missing 3 key forwards for a chunk of the game, and 2 of half back line from the Tailteann cup plus none of the Strandhill Connaught winners? Also the number of scoreable wides kicked was the most Ive seen of any recent team coming to OCP.
So we got Sligo at a good time, We came with a burst after half time and put them to the sword which is great, Maybe we are lucky to be getting Laois green,, with no game under their belt and apparently short key players as well.
Great boost for Offaly to get the win but we are light without Furlong and Bracken, and with Farrell, Anton, and others no longer options then we will struggle to compete for promotion, But happy that we will have enough to stay up.
So fair play to the management with adapting to the rules and we seemed to be well prepared and fit and hopefully we can build again with a win on Sunday.

8 players that played for Laois against Down in Tailteann Cup final last year are not on panel this year. Offaly should beat them.

I see trump has signed an executive order
So that Mickey Harte becomes a overlord
Of Offaly If we beat loais
Give it time he will be sorting out the substitutions mind you no harm if he did one for floodlights and a bar in O'Connor park .
(Lidl have opened in pub in Northern Ireland )

Haven't seen enough of Sawyer yet, but I could easily name 5 or 6 forwards from the Offaly club championship that would have acquitted themselves as well if not better last Sunday. Darragh Flynn being one.

You’ve more chance of predicting the Euromillions two weeks in a row than predicting what SuperHans’ next post will be aboutSuperhans75 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:17 am I see trump has signed an executive order

The only thing grimmer than shopping in Lidl would be drinking in Lidl.
Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Same team named as last week. Everything went well against Sligo so no issues there. Bourke, Nigel, Tierney etc worked well off the bench. Sawyer still a major question mark but we’ll give him this week. A win this weekend would be a huge boost and a very encouraging start to the year. Almost instantly better than last years stuttering league campaign.

I doubt that'll be the starting teamCheddar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 11:35 pm Same team named as last week. Everything went well against Sligo so no issues there. That tells me all I needed to know about the management we had in 2024 and I just can’t understand why we didn’t give Mickey Harte the job on his own?
You choosing to ignore the 20 point win against wicklow or the 8 point win against laois last year? The TC games clearly meant nothing which has been a feature of Offaly footballers for a long number of years.. the ground work was laid last year by kelly rooting out the rot and the older players and bedding in the new players
Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Beautiful. Yup the Faithful. Well deserved weekend off and a good game to come against Antrim in Tullamore. Let’s get a good crowd in and push for 6 points. Would really put us in a good position.

Never mind promotion, it’s the All Ireland we should be looking at.
