Rumours Farrell has left the panel after being left off the 26 for tomorrow. A shambles already and a ball hasn’t even been kicked yet in the league. He was without doubt the best forward in club football last year. If they are beaten tomorrow things will blow up very quickly. Few surprises in the team tomorrow too by all accounts.

Very interested to see how this goes now.
How in the name of the Lord is Cian Farrell there again after last year and the same crack again if he has left? How can this management not get something out of one of our best forwards.
Marcus is a good player but was poor in the championship at club level and is very rash, Diarmuid Egan at wing back?

I guess its about the team that finishes rather than the team that starts, its likely to be a bumpy ride

Sure the likes of Kevin Nugent, Corey White, Oisin Keenan-Martin, Harry Plunkett, Geordi O Meara, Jamie Guing and Aidan Bracken would be good enough to make the panel

Was it not Hyland who kicked up a fuss last year or am I remembering incorrectly?

You may be referring to him not turning up for the last Tailteann Cup game, think there was a league argument as well. Think it's water under the bridge now though.

In regards to Cian Farrell, like can you say he’s one of the best players in the club championship? Yes. But he hasn’t performed for Offaly since before his ACL. He’s had starts in the last few years and never did much. It’s also not the first time his commitment has been questioned, and for good reason. If attitude is not 100% then why bother. I hope he hasn’t walked away, but there’s previous there.

As far as the whole year is to go. Well as a diehard fan, who’s travelled across the country for shitty Division 4 games, meaningless TC games, amazing performances against Meath in 23, Monaghan in 2011, I will support them no matter what. I’m incredibly skeptical of the management situation. I’ve no time for Mickey Harte in any sense. I think Kelly’s record with the U20 warranted him some more respect and appreciation. Last year was a disaster but it was year one. I think the Harte appointment is a major kick in the teeth and it won’t last. Harte is no co-manager, and nether is Kelly. I’ve never liked co-managers and it think it’s doomed to failure. One will walk away at some point.

Look I’m open for change and I’m a glass half full person. I’d love to be eating my words about Harte in a few months time.

The dream is Division 2. Get to a 3rd Leinster Semi In a row. Maybe a TC Semi Final. Get a team to play consistently. Develop a midfield for the first time in 20 years. Bring some pride into Offaly Football. 💚🤍💛

Farrell left the panel for a short spell before the Down league game last year after being left off the 26.
He came back afterwards.

Best wishes to them all tomorrow. The team is new look in some positions, there's no point saying otherwise.
Unfortunately, there will be plenty of doubters ready to fling the rotten tomatoes if it doesn't go well.
Anyone who commits to train and play for Offaly should be fully backed by the Offaly public.

Also, can we actually just have a full panel announced. Too many rumours and questions. Every county should be doing it at a bare minimum

If true, it is very disappointing if Cillian Farrell has left the Offaly football panel. Again.
Time ticks by for him to make any mark at inter-county level. Which, is ultimately, where it maters.

Yeah but to be fair this has been the way for the last couple of years, for better or worse. In one sense its good that theres a reasonable level of talent spread across all teams in the county. Conversely I think your team should be backboned by 2/3 of the strongest clubs in the county. You probably get a bit of a benefit from lads being used to playing with each other at club level. You’re trying to build up a dynamic between lads who hardly ever play together.

Cian Farrell hasn’t been the same since his injury. Offaly are definitely weaker for not having him there, just unsure as to how much weaker given recent year’s performance.

Carroll, Cunningham, Hogan, Farrell and Sullivan all out this year; its looking like a huge ask to stay up. If they perform worse this year than last, is there any justification in pursuing the joint manager arrangement?

Completely agree, poor analogy but you won't see tuchel picking players from Oldham and Norwich...make the backbone of the team from rhode, tullamore and ferbane, players who are used to getting to and competing in finals
