Offaly u20 Footballers 2025

Post by ruletheroost »

Provincial panel finalised recently. Any surprises on it or omissions? Cillian Lowry omitted which is a bit of a surprise considering he featured heavily at senior level for Edenderry this year.
I believe they are playing UCD next Friday night in a challenge.
Extremely tough group they are in with Dublin Meath and Westmeath. Hopefully they will be up for it.

Have you a copy of the panel you can share or a link to it?

Agreed I would have thought Cillian Lowry was good enough to make the panel has played senior etc but seen him vs Tullamore a few weeks back in the u 20 semi he just ran around in circles at times he has a high skill level to be fair to him . There was 75 lads called in id like to see the final 34 .

Offaly played UCD Freshers in a challenge game today in UCD under the new rules, Offaly played against a strong wind in the first half and were totally outplayed, the second half was fairly even. Offaly's best player was the centre back playing with UCD from shamrocks

Two very different teams played each half.

Only managed a point in the first half from Dara Bates. Extremely poor defensively in the half too conceding around 3-5. Full back line
struggled badly.

Second half a lot better when they brought on a few stronger forwards.
Ryan Kenny 1-4 Cillian Foran 0-3 (1 x 2 pointer) and Kaelem Bryan 0-2 played very well together. Brian Carroll and Ciaran Scully got a goal each too.

Conceded 6 or 7 goals in total which is something that will have to be looked at. First game under the new rules and a good run out though to run off the Christmas Turkey.

A bit of context re this result
2-4 to 6 pts at half time Galway got a very soft goal in the first half
Cillian Bourke taken off at half time and Offaly short a few so on the surface it looks bad but it’s not as bad as the result shows.
I don’t like to put young players down who are trying their best but some of the lads on the panel team lack the basic skills gonna be a hard slog for this group

Any word on how things are going? I heard they struggled for the most part against Leitrim recently until Leitrim made a lot of changes and Offaly came back to win.

It's a tough grade to manage as there are always a good number of lads missing with college, etc. Challenge matches are coming up against Limerick Clare and Kerry. There are only six weeks until the first round.

Is it just Cillian Bourke from this 20s group up with the seniors?

Anyone make it to Wexford today?
Hard for anyone to get down I imagine with both senior teams playing today.
