Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
Kk to win by 10 pts +
Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
i think this will be closer then a lot of people think, KK by 4-6 points
Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
I think Ballinamere will put it up to Kk for the first half. Won’t be much in it at HT but Kk to pull away in second half and win by 8

Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
KK 3-23 Ballinamere 1-15
Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
Assuming Cillian Kiely is out, KK by 8 to 10. I think Ballinamere will put it up to them for 30 or 40 mins, but KK in the second semi were on a different level, even in second gear.

Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
Big days are for big players.
The marquee players in this game (in no particular order) are: Ciaran Burke, Charlie Mitchell, Dan Bourke, Brian Duignan, Dan Ravenhill, Mark Troy, Adam Screeney, Cillian Kiely (seems likely to miss out).
Ter Guinan, Brecon Kavanagh and Colin Spain are next up, although they lack the senior inter county experience as of yet.
Ballinamere have enough marquee players to cause Kilcormac problems.
That means Ciaran Burke needs to absolutely shut Charlie Mitchell down, Mark Troy needs to make some crucial saves, Dan Bourke and Dan Ravenhill need to dominate the KK half back line and pop 3-5 points over each and Brian Duignan needs to be flawless on the frees and contribute from play.
Ballinamere’s weakness is once you go beyond these marquee players.
Whereas KK have Conor Mahon, James Mahon, Guinan, 3 x Kavanaghs, Spains and Hand on the supporting cast, Ballinamere lack that depth of talent, as do 99.9% of senior club teams.
Kevin McDermott has had a great year (albeit poor against Rynaghs) and will need to cover every inch of Glenisk OCP. He may lack the hurling but has a serious engine. John Murphy and Aaron Maher will need to contribute heavily - which they are capable of but lacking the consistency. Ross Ravenhill has been suspect at centre back since his switch back, but a physical battle against Conor Mahon should suit him. Sam Bourke needs to step up massively. I don’t think Ballinamere have the corner backs to cover KK’s inside threat. Chris McDonald struggled against Rynaghs’ inside pace, while it has been a game of musical chairs for the other corner spot.
Kilcormac have the luxury of bringing a recent and a current inter county panelist in off the bench in Cathal Kiely and Jack Screeney. Don’t be surprised to see Peter Geraghty if needs be with the senior B wrapped up.
An ageing Rynaghs team gave Ballinamere a lot of problems because of their hurling nous, which Kilcormac have in abundance.
If Ballinamere want any shot at all, we will have to see a performance of the ages from some, if not all of their big names.
Having been 8 points favourites versus Coolderry, I’d expect KK to be 4-6 point favourites here.
KK by 7+

Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
The two lines that I think will decide it are the KK full forward line vs Ballinamere full backs, and Ballinamere half forward line vs KK half backs. Charlie Mitchell vs Ciaran Burke, Brecon Kavanagh vs Dan Bourke key battles. Who will pick up Dan Ravenhill? I agree that Ballinamere have enough good players to cause KK problems, but the one thing that sets KK apart (as well as the overall quality throughout the team) is the savage work rate of the forwards in particular.

Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
Kk by 11 points just think they have the measure of the ballinamere players over the 60mins also the weather gods could have a hand in it
Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
Quiet build up to the hurling, does everyone think K/K will have it easy?
To be fair with or without Cillian Kiely, quite simply its hard to see B/D scoring more than KK. They will probably need at least 3 goals to have a chance of winning Sunday?
The below are B/Ds totals from their last three knockout matches, which were all played in O'Connor Park too.
2024 semi vs Rynaghs: 1-21
2023 semi vs Shinrone: 0-16
2022 q final vs Birr: 0-11
They're clearly improving each year as you'd expect with a team adding Dan Bourke and Dan Ravenhill to their ranks.
Double Ks seem very focused this year, is the Shinrone 2022 smash and grab still fresh in the mind to B/Ds detriment.
Two best teams in the county meeting, lets hope its a good one.
KK for me with or without their centre back.

Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
KK are a step ahead of everyone. Even without Kiely. I expect Ballinamere to stay in touch for 40-45 minutes without really threatening and KK to push on for a 8-10 point win
Doon exile....
