Not sure what way the leinster draw is but a place in a leinster final is surely the bare minimum?

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2024
If the Offaly champions (presumably KK, but you never know) were to win in Carlow and go on to play in Kilkenny, as is possible, it would be fairly well set up for whoever comes out in 2025. By my logic that would mean that the last game against every other county in Leinster bar Westmeath (Laois, Kildare, Kilkenny, Wexford, Dublin, Kildare, Carlow) would have been away, so they'd have every game at home.
Not hugely relevant to the 2024 championship and the title of this thread, but I just figured I'd put it out there.

Not an open draw on a year by year basis no?Lone Shark wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:00 pm If the Offaly champions (presumably KK, but you never know) were to win in Carlow and go on to play in Kilkenny, as is possible, it would be fairly well set up for whoever comes out in 2025. Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2024
Was at the games yesterday in tullamore
First game looked closer than it really was
And the kk look like they were playing a pub
Team
Some of coolderry s marking was awful against ableit against a good team
Kk we're probably at 70percent
Hard to see Past them but complacency
Can have it's own problems
There is one way to beat KK that is to play like them
But you have to be very fit .
Have a good week

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2024
Was at the games yesterday too. Ballinamere will be very relieved today to be preparing for a county final. Was looking like Rynaghs with 5-10 minutes to go. Fair play to John Murphy for standing up. Overall, it’s hard to actually say they were the better team as Rynaghs hurled very well for long patches. Ballinamere will be be disappointed I’d with some of their individual players- ciaran Burke struggled with Luke O’Connor, Sam bourke, Dan ravenhill were very quiet. And Duignan will need to hit the target a bit more in the final……..very impressed with Darragh Scully yesterday.
KK on a different level yesterday. Daniel hand and Ter Guinan were especially good I thought.
Hard to see the final going anywhere but KK.

Don’t agree at all about Dan Ravenhill being quiet, he won lots of puckouts and dirty ball scored 0-3 from play won the penalty and was taken out for frees all day he must have been down injured 3/4 times before eventually having to go off, I thought he showed huge leadership for a young lad

the kilkenny champs of last year o loughlin gaels struggled to beat 13 man dicksboro and required a last min point to win it.

That was the other way around..o loughlins were 13 men.. o loughlins got a goal in injury time.
Collosal performance from huw lawlor and deegan at centre and full back in the second half.

Maybe it’s the level I have him at. He certainly wasn’t nearly as influential as he has or can be. Yes, he certainly got plenty of ‘attention’ and 3 points is still a quiet day for him.Behindthegoal wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 7:53 am Don’t agree at all about Dan Ravenhill being quiet, he won lots of puckouts and dirty ball scored 0-3 from play won the penalty and was taken out for frees all day he must have been down injured 3/4 times before eventually having to go off, I thought he showed huge leadership for hi a young lad

I haven't checked it so I'm not absolutely sure, but my gut feeling is no, I think it alternates, providing the counties have arrangements in place, which at this stage, most do.frankthetank wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:07 pmNot an open draw on a year by year basis no?Lone Shark wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:00 pm If the Offaly champions (presumably KK, but you never know) were to win in Carlow and go on to play in Kilkenny, as is possible, it would be fairly well set up for whoever comes out in 2025. Cillian Kiely rumoured to be ruled out of the county final with a broken thumb
Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2024
First post lads. Travelled from Carlow to the semis today, an Offaly man living and involved in coaching and admin in one of the senior clubs in Carlow. Long time reader of this excellent forum.
First game: Ballinamere always seemed to have that little bit more threat up front, and had an extra gear (or maybe that extra bit of fitness) to pull away in the end. Dan Ravenhill outstanding right through.
Second game an absolute procession. Charlie Mitchell is a real force up front, and the quality of KK’s touch and passing was exceptional, on another level. That said, Coolderry were abysmal, and it was hard to make a real judgement of how good KK actually were. Kiely’s injury looked more than just precautionary, he looked very upset coming off, and he would be a huge loss for the final, he offers huge structure and stability for the whole team. Maybe (and hopefully for his sake) it’s not as bad as it looked.
Your money would be on KK for the final, but looking further ahead, St. Mullins will provide a stern test for whoever prevails. Very strong and high scoring forward line, with lots of goal scoring potential: Marty Kavanagh, obviously, but also Conor Kehoe, Paddy Boland, Jason O’Neill, and, in James Doyle, they have one of the best midfielders in the country right now. Backs will be physical and highly competitive.
Looking forward to the final. Ballinamere seemed to play with a bit of fear for most of today, but I expect might cut loose a bit more in the final, with the pressure of expectation, to some extent, off. Still, it’s very hard to look beyond the KK team. So much to admire. Ter Guinan at wing back was brilliant in the first half today, Colin Spain gets through an amount of good work, and delivers great ball into the inside forwards, Conor Mahon got through a huge amount of productive work. Expect KK to prevail by a margin, but be very wary of St. Mullins after that, especially their full forward line. But maybe talk of that is for another day …
