Some great performances but also
Some massive question marks
Birr are a mess no point beating around the bush there decline is alarming
Great win for Coolderry very open game
Shinrone defensive wise are very average
Too many similar type players
Coolderry wore there hearts on there sleeves
A mighty effort
But shinrone had there chances to pull away
I think KK and ballinamere have not lost any
Sleep over the semi final opposition.
Any one know we're the final will be played ?

I would suggest and hope the following happens:

Saturday October 5th in O’Connor Park
Intermediate Hurling Final
Senior B Hurling Final

Sunday October 6th in St Brendan’s Park
Coolderry vs Kilcormac/Killoughey
St Rynaghs vs Ballinamere

If the county board hold the semi-finals on separate days they will literally price people out of going to the county semi-finals which would be a pretty sh1tty thing to do being honest about it.

Sunday October 20th in O’Connor Park
County hurling final

Tells you all you need to know about what motivates our county board when their preferred option was to split the semi-finals. And no mention in the article about the financial strain thay would have put people under if they wanted to go to both.

The point is this:

According to the article the preferred option of the CB was to split the Semi-Finals to Saturday and Sunday (something they didn't do for football by the way). Therefore if you were intending to go to both semi-finals it would cost you €40. Which is extortionate to go to county semi-finals. In the end they couldn't do it as Coolderry and K/K wouldn't agree to it.

Therefore it's quite clear they were viewing the semi-finals as a money making exercise rather than providing a day's entertainment to people at a reasonable cost. At the end of the day Offaly GAA's remit is to provide a fixture of games for players and supporters. Not price people out of going to games if they would like to. They run enough fundraisers during the year that we all contribute to without trying to charge people €40 to go and see the county semi-finals in hurling.

It just leaves a sour taste for me that as match going supporter I am treated as as someone to be fleeced rather than a valued supporter who is entitled to value for money. I'm not a clubber man. I go to games. A lot of games. But this just really annoyed me.

This county board has got most things right and it's work on hurling on particular has reignited us all and they are to be hugely commended. But sometimes money just can't be the first priority.

As it is they have avoided a lot of negative feedback.

Admission to senior semi finals is €12 for a single game or €18 for a double header.

Admission for a double header involving different grades is set at the higher grade. However assuming the lower grade is the final (€15) I assume double header for the final/semi final would have been €15 and €30 if you wanted to get both semis.

So in your case, you’ll now pay €18 and get the two semi finals in a double header. I think you’re been harsh on county board. What they said was they want to split the semi finals to align with Coolderry and KK with their respective lower grade teams. That’s a fair assessment by county board in my view as I’d say there’ll be more Coolderry and KK fans attending both days now and paying what will be €33 than neutrals attending the senior semi finals on separate days and paying what would be €24.

I think the county board will make more revenue with their second choice preference.

You’re also forgetting that by the county boards preference, you’d be getting 4 games.

Lastly, a season ticket for €200 is good value for anyone that attends a lot of games. I have one now for last few years and wouldn’t be without it

Unfair? I was wrong on the shinrone game. I do think kk will beat coolderry by anywhere from 8 to 15 points. Shinrone were in the driving seat on Sunday and hit a lot of wides in the 2nd half. Coolderry have done well to get to where they are now especially when losing two group games.

Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Rynaghs v Birr

A typical Saturday afternoon match that a bit like Birr's season, it never got going. In fairness to the Banagher men they did enough to get the win and deserved it with some good scores near the end of the game. They'll fancy their chances against Ballinamere and certainly wont fear them. A very disappointing year for Birr who wouldbnt have made a q final at all only for Cahills frees.

Coolderry v Shinrone

Easily the game of the championship so far, lots of quality, intensity and hunger. Coolderry prbably deserved the win but as good as Jason Sampson played he could have won it for Shinrone with a few of his goal chances. Coolderry are typically plucky and with Corcocan long range frees and a few goals they might just make a game of it versus double K.

Yes maby Kk will win by they margin you suggest but you were still wrong saying that they wud hammer Coolderry last day , also I would like to know what you mean by Shinrone been in the drivers seat on Sunday. Alot of wides ?? They had 4 in 2nd half !!! You fail to give ANY credit atall to Coolderry on beating a good team that have appeared in the last 2 county finals.

I was at the kk vs coolderry match. Kk were in control from start to finish and had a lot of wides. Shinrone had very poor wides and balls dropped short. They were in the driving seat at 2-10 to 2- 8 and had in my opinion momentum. Coolderry did very well to win.
I have no allegiance to any club. Just giving an opinion.

Ballinamere eventually got over the line, abetted by some bizzare decision making by the rynaghs line. How sean dolan was left standing on the sideline for most of the second half when rynaghs needed to make ball stick and give their defence some reprieve is beyond me. Lot of durrows big men didn’t especially blow the doors off it, their superior fitness probably told out in the end. KK will beat them out the gates COMFORTABLY when the time comes. Fair play to rynaghs they died with their boots on, felt they did a good bit of hurling but weren’t able to stem the tide once b/d started getting a run on them down the home straight (something that i felt dolan would have helped with)

Stayed for the second game but that was over after 10 minutes. Everything about that KK team screams high performance, mitchell at 14 is the marquee forward in the county at present. KK had players on their bench who would walk onto most teams such is their abundance of riches.

Not sure what way the leinster draw is but a place in a leinster final is surely the bare minimum?

Offaly champs play Carlow St Mullins and if win that it’s a semi against Kilkenny champs probably in Kilkenny. Nothing easy about that.
