Would you rather a route of QF - Tullamore, SF - Rhode, F - Edenderry or one of QF - Bracknagh, SF - Edenderry, F - Tullamore?

Bear in mind Ferbane usually take a while to warm up and get better as the games go on, have a couple out injured plus would have played back to back hurling rounds before a potential QF against Tullamore?

I know I'd rather play my toughest game last when I have the best chance of having a full strength 15 and had no hurling commitments plus the two teams who finish top avoid each other until the final so you give yourself the opportunity of playing Edenderry in the semi.

CJ is a supremely talented footballer.

To this point, he has shown no desire to put in the workrate, diet, gym-work etc to become an inter county footballer.
If he can do that, then I’m sure he would be most welcome.

We can’t let talent like that fall by the wayside in our small dual county.

Reports were that CJ when last trained with the Offaly senior panel was miles away from the fitness levels and S&C levels required for intercounty football.

Impossible to read anything into the first rounds of any level, but from what I've heard/seen of Senior B
Gracefield lost by 11 to Clara was one of the few thumpings handed out and yet would you rule Gracefield out of getting to a final at least?

Cappicur beating Clonbullogue by 6 would at the top line suggest that Clonbulogue will have bit to do to challenge there and that Cappincur are motoring ok at this point compared to last year.

Daingean hammering Walsh Island was a bit of a surprise as they have a number of injuries, but unless Walsh Island were holding back a few lads they look to be in bother this year.

Tubber takin care of ballycumber was to be expected.

Genuinely surprised that Durrow took such a hammering from Edenderry and would be great if Edenderry can come out of the pack to maount a challenge as they have county std talent but the attitude is not always the best.

As regards stand out players too early for that really. Cian Johnson, please, if he is called in, if he is willing to commit, then well and good, let's talk again on it next March. Daragh Flynn is a great young lad with right atitude and no mention of him!! There are others too who will have solid campaigns and live the life of intercounty players but are never mentioned. Maybe it is these that we need to turn to.

Flynn was called in last November but cut before the O'Byrne Cup.

Rhode are moving well and were impressive in spots . Ballycomon had a lot of possession but played into Rhodes hands . Rhode while dropping everybody back hit ballycommon on the counter attack and picked off their scores Ballycommon just seemed to run into the a wall of Rhode men and that’s exactly what Rhode want . Ballycommon didn’t play as defensively as they did against Tullamore and left gaps on the break for Rhode . 2 super goals from Rhode and they are moving along nicely will be very hard bet

Fair reflection of the match and having seen both Tullamore and Rhode I have to say Rhode impressed me more. Seemed to be very efficient and organised in what they were doing. Their counter-attack is excellent, much more livlier than Tullamore and better scorers from play. Dempsey kept Anton reasonably quiet, but Niall Mac was excellent. Ballycommon missed Aidan Bracken for the man-marking but even with that, Rhode would still have got their scores easier. Long way to go to decide the Dowling Cup but Rhode are in with a shout if they continue this form.

With Shamrocks winning tonight it would take a remarkable set of results (from Durrow in particular) to stop at least 1 match up of the big 4 in the Q-Finals. So one of Tullamore, Rhode, Edenderry and Ferbane won’t make this year’s county semi-finals. It will be more than likely the loser of Tullamore vs Rhode will play the loser of Edenderry vs Ferbane in a county Q-Final.

Shamrocks vs the loser of Ballycommon vs Bracknagh is also nearly a nailed on Q-Final.

Could someone fill me in as to the last year the “Big 4 “ weren’t the last 4 left standing?

Durrow made a semi final in 2021 where they lost to Rhode.

Great result for shamrocks considering the lads who are abroad, although Durrow are capable of beating them you couldn’t predict it going off what we’ve seen so far. I know the format isn’t ideal and not what you want to see but there will be a couple of great quarter finals to watch you’d expect.
