I think county board were 100% correct in their decision to leave with TM as it would have been a total nightmare to try to distribute through the clubs given the amount of kids involved. I was gauging on 20,000 for Offaly and 6,000 for Tipp. That was going on an increase of 5,000 from the 15,000 Leinster final. It does seem to have far exceeded that (albeit hard to say for sure at this stage) so the statement of unprecedented demand may not be too unfair.

Just trying to visualise it in our own club. We have 30 on our committee and a further 250 members. Many have 2,3 or 4 kids. Husband/wife and 3 kids but could you imagine giving out 5-6 tickets to one committee member and another club member gets nothing. Not to mention the logistics of trying to accommodate families sitting together. In reality, it would leave parents having to tell kids ‘sorry you have no ticket’ which in turn would result in the parents not going either.

I wouldn’t think for a second that there were many Tipperary fans sitting on TM at 2:30pm with the intensity of Offaly people so probably 95% of what TM sold will be in OY hands. Tipperary were correct in requesting an allocation with view of trying to cajole their fans to travel. No matter how we look at it in Offaly, where hunger is great sauce, it simply doesn’t have the same appeal to Tipp people.

On the point of tickets being ‘sold’ in O’Connor park yesterday evening. County board have clarified that was for sponsors, stewards for home games, etc. I’m sure that all other team mgt were looked after e.g. is the minor football manager or the Offaly ladies manager not fully entitled to tickets - absolutely they are and county board would be very foolish not to look after all those that work tirelessly behind the scenes all year round for little reward.

I’m hearing of 2500 tickets coming back from Tipp tomorrow and I think slowly people are getting sorted anyways albeit there are still a lot waiting.

Hopefully the team are not being distracted by it all. Need to try to get this thread back onto the game.

BTW. I’m very confident that Offaly will win on Saturday.
Absolutely spot on ,to hear petitions being raised and the likes is embarrassing.

I've seen a few people selling tickets I hope genuine supporters got sorted wether itd be the man who listens in on the wireless and decides to dust of his offaly cap or the guy who's an hour early for every game

Nothing against banadwagoners just would like to see the genuine supporters sorted

This Bandwagon garbage has to stop...if you are bringing your child of 6 years of age who has started hurling for your local club is that deemed as bandwagon? These are the peoole who are large volume of supporters of this group.

Them young kids have to be brought and hopefully some day will be future offaly starters.

Maybe just get behind the team supporters anyone who usually goes to see offaly has a ticket I can guarantee you that.

Being reported that Offaly clubs can apply for up to 30 tickets each as Tipp didn’t sell their full allocation.

Afaik there are 61 clubs in Offaly so that would mean there are 1,800+ tickets still available and Tipp only sold 3,200.

On that basis the ratio on Saturday should be 23,000:4,000

I’d consider a bandwagoner someone who has no involvement with their club nor never attends club games as a supporter and only shows up to Offaly games for All Ireland finals mainly to fit in with the crowd and go on the lash.

And I don’t think anyone has an issue with those supporters once they’re not depriving the diehards a ticket.

Saw that about the petition to get the game changed and agree its embarrassing. The players like the venue and will be happy with a packed Nowlan Park, there will be at least 20k offaly supporters there now I would assume, some tipp will have purchased on Ticketmaster and others through the allocation plus some neutrals will be there (a safe assumption that they will be in offalys corner) and I've no doubt a lot of work will go into the pitch to have it in good order.. as G91 said above nothin against bandwagoners but supporters have been very selfish and its a distraction for the players, packed Nowlan Park gives us a better chance of winning than anywhere else. I don't have an issue with the venue or how tickets were sold, I feel sorry for loyal fans like a lot on here who may miss out on going to the game, and it's not because the venue is too small or the county board got it wrong or ticket master crashed, they are missing out because some people who have never been to a match and don't know how many points you get for a goal bought tickets for a day out and they don't care who misses out as long as they get to make memories and document them on social media. I know a few loyal supporters in my club who have missed out on tickets and others who are attending their first match which is wrong! I also know people bought tickets and are reselling them. I can't go to the match due to family event but I was tempted to buy a few tickets on behalf of some locals so they wouldn't miss out. This kind of capacity issue won't pop its head up too often but for when it does, there needs to be something place. If you buy a ticket and go to a match you get credit for it and depending on the match the level of credit you get should be varied (ie away games and some other factors). when it comes to a big game where capacity may be an issue then those with the most credit get preference first. I hate to say it but I'm agreeing with Anonymous1!

3-4 lads behind me were having a debate at the Leinster final was it a 30 or 35 minute half.

It's the bandwagon where people have no clue and couldn't care Lees hwo wins once they can record the hole thing for insta , as joey pointed out ,

It's all well and good once people who go to the likes of trim or parnell oark on a wet evening get sorted

The most important thing here I believe the players like the venue and its surroundings and 7.15 is a time that suits these lads, its what they are used to.. so while i agree in general the time and the venue aren't ideal I think it gives us the best chance which is the most important thing and it hasn't hindered too many people going by the looks of it. I'm raging I can't go and I'll actually miss probably the first 10 min on TV aswell. As for the game itself, you'd assume tipp would be more suitable than cork for us even though tipp beat Cork, Cork were probably better. These lads have improved a lot over the last couple years and believe in themselves..Tipp will be favourites, I think they opened 4/9 but are as big as 4/6 now.. the cut and thrust of a munster campaign will probably stand to them a bit more I don't think any of these lads will be bothered by any of that anyway.. its the time the sideshow stopped and let these lads get on with what they do best.

Tipp bet cork twice this year. They have a number of players who weren't playing last year or year before for Tipperary and have now developed into really good players.

I will watch the game on TG4, as per the Leinster Final. The trip to Nowlan Park, and the delays, hustle etc, is for the younger fans. Good wishes to the entire squad and management on Saturday.
The topic of fans who just turn up at finals, and never again has long been a problem.
