If ye need a couple more ya can count myself and buffalo in.
What we lack in talent and ability we make up in girth and height.
a handier pair of corner forwards you wouldnt find.
We would love to have a go.
Our boots are polished and waiting on the mantlepiece.

Okay folks, the details are still a little sketchy, but mark ye’re calendars – September the 9th!

We’ll go for an evening throw in – probably around 5.30 or 6pm to allow anyone who might be working that day to take part. I’ll be requesting Shannonbridge pitch as the best neutral venue, but failing that we might have to run with Ferbane or Doon. I’m aware not every player will be suited by this date, but no date will suit everyone, and it seems the best date to guarantee that our opponents will have a team.

A few points …..

(1) In the unlikely event that both teams are oversubscribed, we will operate rolling subs – this will ensure that lads who want to take part but mightn’t have the legs for the full hour will still get a run. Obviously we will make sure that everyone who SIGNS UP and comes along gets at least half the game – seriously though I don’t expect this to be an issue. More likely we’ll end up playing 13 a side. So sign up!!!
(2) I will attempt to secure a ref – however if anyone knows of someone who’d be happy to fulfil the function and would enjoy it, by all means let me know.
(3) There may yet be a slight per man cost – nothing too excessive. This will be to cover the three main costs that I have thought of – a fee to the host club to cover the heating for showers, opening up of the ground etc., the referee, and insurance for the day. I’ve no idea how much this costs, but to be honest we’d have to cover it.
(4) No prizes for guessing what the colours will be - everyone bring along an Offaly jersey if you have one. If you have more than one, bring a spare for those that mightn't have one.

And that’s it. Now to the more relevant stuff – the football! Based on sign ups so far, this is how the panel is looking:

Goalie: Doon Massive

Backs/Midfield: Rynagh’s Biffo, The Bare Biffo, Fullback, True Red, Minor, The Weak Group

Forwards: Bord na Mona Man, Mykneehurts, Far from Croghan Hill, Mighty Pair O’Hands, Stupid like a Fox, Arbarg, Buffalo.

Utility players: Bogman, Seamroga, Doobane Man, Turk, Lone Shark

Now based on the fact that a few people will be unable to make it on the day in question, and a few more will pull out with no notice because they just will, I’d say that to be sure of fifteen we need at least twenty who can confirm their ability for the 9th. So if you’re on the above list, confirm that, and even if you’re not, hop on board now. There’s jobs for everyone!

And of course, I’m expecting a good night out after it!

Undersharks are go ……

Okay, a mixed start to say the least - particularly bad break for the Bare Biffo - I know in his current situation a cut at the Rossies would have been thoroughly enjoyed!

It's the good people of the Stolen Sheep discussion board - i.e. Roscommon that we're playing. Can't beat the midlands derbies eh?

I'll have to go purchase a kickout tee!

Can we run some ryder cup type ad campaign, where punters in bars throughout the country just leave their pints, and start walking to the bridge?

Have ye a manager sorted yet for the big match...obviously KK won't be asked to do the job...but maybe it could be a chance for a lad to make a name for himself as a potential manager for the future??

Or maybe we have a lad already on this site whose done a bit of managing in his time, or is LS planning a player/manager role on the evening?

Also have ye got sorted out with jersey's? I presume if your going to get a ref ye'll all need numbers on the back of yer jersey's.

No manager yet - feel free to step in in some sort of advisory role! (I assume you're still injured and playing is not an option? Bad luck with that by the way ....) I'd say there won't be much need of a proper manager to be honest - plugging one gap in a team is one thing, plugging fifteen is another entirely!

As for numbers, twill be a bad state of affairs if a game like this needs yellow and red cards. It's not exactly the Dowling Cup we're playing for here.
