Did anyone else think that poor old Laois looked like a team that has done too many laps of the pitch ?
This seems to be a more common trend, particularly among teams who start training early and have a good league campaign - see also Limerick in hurling and dare I say it our own hurlers.
Overtrained - worse than undertrained ?????

Dublin...
More importantly did ye all see how frightningly good Dublin were, and how physical & fit they were when they got into their stride?? If we beat Wexford next week, that's a big 'IF', Who will stop Keaney and co running wild in a leinster final?? Who will win ball in midfield from kick-outs? Would a 2 man full forward line for us suit on the day??
What went wrong with Laois? Were they just too slight physically?? If you ask me it'll take a big, strong team to take on Dublin. I just wonder if we'd be up to the task.
Roll on next sunday lads....

I'll say this - they folded extremely cheaply. I'm not really the one to say whether it was down to running too many laps or what, but apart from Brennan and Munnelly - two of their smallest guys - I thought there really was very little will to at least lose with honour.
From an Offaly/Wexford point of view, I think it's perfect. Not because of the hype machine or anything like it - they are the Dubs, the hype will be through the roof irrespective. I don't buy into all this s***e about how they'll be overconfident now either. These lads are too long in football with too few medals to be anything but primed for a Leinster final. Also, if we do get that far, the league match will stick in their mind. They dominated us, made our boys look like fools, and still ended up winning by two points - you'll get no complacency from the Dubs.
I say it's perfect because the Dublin game plan operated perfectly yesterday. Keaney got on the ball and took his scores, Cullen dominated from centre back, their half back line as whole was aggressive and bloodthirsty competing for ball, Sherlock got into some good positions and distributed the ball very well, and Quinn hung around like a bad smell, very quiet, and still scored two goals and three or four points. They have to name the same fifteen, they have to operate the same gameplan - it means that we/Wexford have no excuse for being underprepared.
The physical thing is huge. We/Wexford need to be prepared for the physical intensity these boys will bring to the table. But after what we've seen now, there's no excuse not to be.

It's been typical of Micko in his tenure of Laois & Kildare that he had his teams light & fit & fast....all good and well but missing some vital ingredients.
A bit of steel/strength/muscle...call it what you like. Laois look like an over-grown minor team, they just bounced off the Dubs. Unless they bulk up or pick a few bigger players they'll go no-where!

Was at the match in croker yesterday. I couldn't believe how bad Laois were. Too much use of the handpass for me and not really going anywhere. Shades of the Lilies under micko's rule.
The Dubs were very impressive alright but I'd put a lot of it down to Laois' stupidness. Both their full back line and full forward lines were way to small. Their full back line got a collective roasting. can't understand why they moved Higgins to the wing and left him there. Tom Kelly spent most his time running across the field aimlessly with the ball and leaving the whole centre wide open for Brogan, Keaney and jayo to go to town. As did Higgins to a lesser extent.
The forwards did okay until they lost Clancy from midfield. After that the only service they got was long, high, hail Mary balls, kicked into what has to be the smallest full forward line in intercounty football.
I think whoever wins between ourselves and Wexford has a great chance of winning a Leinster. The dubs full back line is shaky and if you deprive the forwards of the space afforded to them yesterday, their shooting can be erratic. As was seen in the early exchanges. All thats left is to cover Cluxtons kick outs to the wing for Ryan to run on to and compete for the breaks from his long kickouts to the centre, when thats the only option he has left.
Last but not least. I hope we get a big following for the game on Sunday. It'd be a shame to be completely out numbered by a crowd thats mainly there for the hurling final. Its the least our footballers deserve.
