Tipster's Comp - Round 1 Results

[Lone Shark]

A very clear star of the show in round 1 and deserved leader - Harperj, who was the one and only tipster out of a fine 40 entrants who went down the card and picked all six winners for a maximum nine points. Hocker was next on 8, his loyalty to the Bridge letting him down, while True Red Minor and Sparklin all follow on from top ten finishes last year with strong showings on seven, along with the Untouchable.

Mighty Pair O' Hands leads the trophy winners from last year on six, with SBÓR not far behind on five. Rynagh's Biffo came from obscurity last year to take the McCormack Cup, and it'll be a similar recovery needed this year after a stunning two points in round 1!

Early days yet folks - it'll take around 80 points to win, so the first steps have been taken anyway!

Before I can do the regional table, I need to know of the origins of a few more of you out there - Harperj in particular is set to contribute heavily to wherever he may be from!

Based on the ones I know, here's how it has gone so far - enough of the West Offaly players didn't blindly tip their own to allow them to start strong .....

22 pts West Offaly - (Hocker 8, Any two from 3 on 7)

19 pts North Offaly - (True Red 7, any two from 4 on 6)

16 pts Mid Offaly (Fit for Junior 6, Bord na Mona Man & As Such Ger 5)

13 pts Hurling Offaly (Plain of the Herbs 6, Treasurer 4, Turk 3)

Hurling and Mid People really need more bodies on board - don't be shy people!!

Anyway, the people I'm still not sure of what team they're playing for - step forward! I'm looking for the following in particular for now, though all are welcome .....

Harperj, Fit for Junior, Juteman & the Rat. These are the only ones that could change the above scoring.

My bet is that Juteman is from Clara.
The industrial powerhouse of the county for decades, with its world renowned jute manufacturing operation.

Clara hyperbole aside I harbour the same suspicions, but on the other hand he could be from the jute bearing fields of Guangdong or Shinrone, with little or no concern for where the jute is processed. Or it could be just a name.

I guess I'd slot in somewhere on the North Offaly team. Parish of tullamore is the location......

Tullamore is mid Offaly for the purposes of this exercise, you're in with Clara, Shamrocks and Tubber - and ye need the numbers!

Still, that helps the cause - 6pts instead of four brings ye up to 16pts in total - I'll edit the top one now.
