Ferbane looked very good, but are not favourites in my eyes as they will surely lose a few players come the latter stages. Capincur, Clara red hot favourites at this stage. Sure anyone has a chance come knockout games. Just look at the way it turned out last year. Hopefully we'll have a team like Clonmore win it this year.

Terrible display by Daingean. Must be one of the lowest points for Daingean football in years. No fight or heart and just laid down to an average Cappincur team. Daingean were actually leading this game about 10 mins in the second half when Cappincur got a goal and the Daingean resistance fell apart. Not looking good for them for this season at all.

Ferbane are having some good results, its not easy to beat Ballinagar. How come Ballycommon cant field a team? Are they pulling out or was it something else?
I think you mean Ballycumber Fargo. Its a bit mad alright same team that is in a Division 3 final.

Thats 3 teams in Ballycumber, Shamrocks and Gracefield that are in trouble in this Junior A. There won't be too much excitment come the relegation playoffs this year i'd imagine.

Surely there was a reason for Ballycumber giving a walkover though, it's not like their first loss to Ballycommon was the kind of result that would have put them off making an effort? Also, it's not long ago that Ballycumber were able to field three teams - surely there are enough footballers around for them to field a second string even if there is a reason why a chunk of the squad were missing?

Does anyone know how this championship works? My understanding is that Junior B works along the lines of the top team getting straight into a semi final and the two runners up in each group playing quarter finals. Is Junior A the same, or are they having quarter finals?

Ferbane do look to be in good form and based on the results so far, Edenderry and Ballyfore look to be a little off the pace so they will be expected to top the group, however the usual story for Ferbane in this competition involves getting out of the group but running aground against a junior club such as Capincur or Daingean. With the amount of good young lads that Capincur seem to have, they should be strong, while Clara will of course be good too. I'd say Clara would be just as likely to lose lads as Ferbane though. Ferbane have used 19 players at senior level so far, I couldn't see them having to dig too deep into the juniors, though obviously one or two will be called upon.

I'd still be very wary of Kilcormac/Killoughey if they somehow managed to sneak into the knockouts. Padjoe's thoughts on football are well known but if you got into a situation where the Junior footballers outlasted the senior hurlers in that club, they'd be a team that I'd be wary of meeting.

KK threw this game away. A little bit of rust probably cost them the game. Dan Currams was brilliant at full forward with him and Ciaran Slevin forming a 2 man full forward line. Slevin too played well and hit some nice frees but missed as many as he kicked.

Daingean were not really impressive. They were lucky to come away with the points. They were content to blame the ref for a lot of their problems on a night where the ref did let things flow a lot on both sides.

Ballycommon will be gutted they could not build on their win over Ballycumber. If they had beating Gracefield they would have had one foot in the quarters.

Group 2 is absolutley wide open now. No one will fancy taking on KK but the nearer we get to the SHC resuming, they are likely to see lads hold off on the football in preperation for the small ball championship.

On a side note. Ballycumber gave Cappincur a walk over because Cappincur would not agree to change the game to Monday night as Ballycumber had a lot of lads away at Oxygen.

Im sure Cappincur lads sacrificed Oxegen for championship. Not a valid reason. As Lone Shark alluded too, its not long ago since Ballycumber were able to field 3 teams.

i wouldnt count ballycommon out of the championship at this early stage fargo my friend.. Managers Liam Dempsey,Peadar, Seamus Darby as well as player manager Donie, are all well experienced with regards to the championship shake up. They have installed a plan of playing poor starting teams for the early stages of championship but believe you me Fargo Boyle, Ballyc will have their day in the sun in OConnor park yet ;) .. Key men like Prawns and Billy Conneely up front. Lone shark for president, fargo boyle for junior C . Also i would like to pose the question to the members on the possibility of creatine as the way forward in Offaly Football? . It builds up the legs very well.

Tullamore have been awarded a walkover. Shamrocks cannot field a junior team. And are struggling to get a senior team together for Sunday due to injuries on top of the current absentees.
