Offaly v Cork, SHC qualifier, 25/6/2011
So its looking like Offaly v Cork in Pairc Ui Caoimh at 3pm on 25th June. Will there be a crowd travelling? Dunno whether to drive down and come home or stay the night. Also, any updates on our injury list? Many of the Dublin absentees expected back? Suppose whoever is back will play wed night against Carlow to get some game time.

He is so bad in goal he needs the net in front of him.
Re: Offaly v Cork
Apparently a few more are ready to go after the Cork game including Shane Dooley. Himself, Molloy and Kelly would be good pals. Not much confidence ahead of the clash with Cork so.

Mindset of players might not be on the ball if this is tru.....they might already have one eye on spending a summer in the US. Not a good omenLong John wrote:Apparently a few more are ready to go after the Cork game including Shane Dooley. Himself, Molloy and Kelly would be good pals. How could the mindset of the players be anything but wrong with the shambles that is our county board! They couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery!

Rory Hanniffy is still in a cast but is due to see his surgeon this week to see if he can get it taken off hopefully he should be ok for the Cork game!
Franks and Cleary probably wont play again this year for Offaly!
James Rigney will be in plaster for another month!
Brian Carroll should be ok for Cork!
Big plus for the panel is the return of Brendan Murphy to training Offaly badly need players with his experience!

Re: Offaly v Cork
Molloy departs Faithful scene
The Offaly hurlers must plan without Derek Molloy for the rest of the season after he left for the US on Monday.
The Shamrocks clubman, who was sent off in controversial circumstances in the Faithful County's Leinster SHC defeat by Dublin, will spend the remainder of the summer Stateside.
The blow of losing Molloy has been softened somewhat by the return of Brendan Murphy to the squad. The former captain scored a point after coming off the bench in last night's Walsh Shield final win over Carlow in Portlaoise and could be in contention for a starting place against the winners of this weekend's All-Ireland hurling qualifier between Cork and Laois on Saturday week.
Joe Brady also scored a goal on his return from injury last night, but Rory Hanniffy - who didn't make an appearance against Carlow - only has an outside chance of making the All-Ireland qualifier.
The Offaly footballers have also lost under 21s Brian Connor and Graham Guilfoyle to America this summer.

Re: Offaly v Cork
Offaly warmed up for next weekend's qualifier with a 3-23 to 2-14 win over Carlow in the refixed final of the 'bitatimber' last night.
The team was:- James Dempsey; Peter Healion, David Kenny, Stephen Egan; Dylan Hayden (0-1), Éanna Murphy, Derek Morkan; Daniel Currams (0-3, 1 sl), Conor Mahon (0-1); Shane Dooley (0-9, 7f), Ger Healion (0-1), Colin Egan; Brian Carroll (0-4), Joseph Bergin (0-3), James Mulrooney (1-1). Subs: Cathal Parlon for P Healion (half-time); Brendan Murphy (0-1) for Mahon (49); Joe Brady (1-0) for G Healion (53); Tom Carroll (1-1) for B Carroll (63); Mark Morkan for S Egan (68).
The good news is that Brian Carroll (well, almost!) and Joseph Bergin appear to have played the full match. Brendan Murphy came on with 20 minutes to go. I wonder how they lined out for the second half after Cathal Parlon (an attacker) replaced Peter Healion?

Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Re: Offaly v Cork
wexford put 12 past antrim in the mid 50's
Re: Offaly v Cork
I think Cork's romp against Laois will have them looking already past us to the next round and they'll be believing their own hype, which comes naturally enough for them. If our heads were right, now would be the perfect time to meet them - but are they?
Hopefully "Locked-gate-Gate" is out of our systems and we can give them a kick in the arse - they're far from invincible at the moment. Throw the feckin sink at them, there's nothing to be lost at this stage!

Re: Offaly v Cork
To any doubters in the team just look at the performances of 2 teams just out of division 2 ( Limerick & Clare ) over the last 2 weeks.
You have to throw everything into it from the throw in, get completely into their faces, and see how they handle it as favourites.
Offaly could cause a shock, but only if 15 start( and finish !! )with power pace and attitude, and if Cork are not on song.
Physologically to stop them getting goals would be a huge factor after last weekends mauling handed out to Laois so a bit of manhandling may be required !!
Best of luck to them next Sunday.

Re: Offaly v Cork
Offaly played Galway U21's in a practice game yesterday in Birr Offaly won 3-19 to 1-21, Offaly were minus the U21 panel members and started Rory Hanniffy at corner back(interesting)!
Not a great result against an U21 team but its hard to know what to make of these kinda practice games!
