ye agree lomg john clara and rhode so far ahead of the pack...and tullamore could be the only ones to challenge either.
as for the rumours well the usual are said to be leaving, coincidently ther are by far our two best players...cant see it happening though. any other transfers from around the county? oh and clara tried to get one of our players, their chairman approached him after hearing he was going to a near by club. intresting.
I get chatting a few people from the club, I hear alot of these rumours, the only thing is I think theres plenty of shit stirrers in the club who like to put everybody down. From what i hear they didnt contribute much in their own playing days. Dont mind them Paul, Ive seen the same in another club I know very well.
just bin talkn to a club official and it seems pj ward has signed for parnells of dublin.
and nigel dunne was the one aproached by clara....but this man reckons he has already transfered to pollagh
I can clear up these rumours been talked about here. I was speaking with a very reliable source and there is no way Dunne is going to pullagh of all clubs. He has been approached numerous times by them but never even considered it. He actually laughed at the idea of it. His Dad played for pullagh and I can see why it might be expected he play with them but he has lived in Rahan all his life and Shamrocks have been the only club he ever played with. His Dad is over the Shamrocks u21 side also. Nigel is apparently taking the football with the county very seriously. When I was last talking to him he was a bit peed off with some of the selections made by cribben last year and felt he should have been ahead of alot of lads that played championship last year. To be fair I wouldnt argue with him on that. His big aim is to make the team this year.
As for Ward, He is working in Mountjoy, but commutes. He has a wife at home and only a couple of weeks ago I was speaking to him and he said he never enjoyed football as much since he joined shamrocks and said he has made alot of very close friends there. He doesnt enjoy the county scene to be honest, he finds theres alot of "team mates" from other clubs that have tried to make life as hard as possible for him with the county. I was fairly shocked by some of the things I heard. I just found he was hugely frustrated with the county set up.
Jesus lads get a grip you think in was Colm (Gooch)Cooper you were talking about PJ Ward had one good game
again a Brutal Carlow team in portlaoise a few years ago the next game again Dublin he never felt the weight of the ball
if he was any good do you think Westmeath would have let him go god sake lads going overboard about him.
Hold on there now Townman, with all due respect I never mentioned how good or not he was. I was purely clearing up this rumour rubbish trash talk.
But now that you said it, no he's no gooch but he is one of the best forwards in the county, behind Niall Mac. The game you speak of against Dublin, well come on, how many balls were kicked into him that day, nothing before he was called ashore. I can remember even Niall Mac been terrible in that first half with the exception of one excellent point and Deehan, well was that not the game where he pulled up injured very early on but did not miss too much action after that game.
townman i totaly agree and see where you are coming from . but like hes good for the ould club here in shamrocks and hes one of our top players....i dont believe he is as good as pedro is suggesting ( behind niall mac) ;id have him in my top 8 forwards in offaly though. like if we had niall mac we would win the championship, he is different class. we have p but we still struggle against the top two. at times i think he should start for offaly perhaps biased but overall with a completer neutral head on...probably not
