Fixture Review ongoing in Offaly

Post by Lone Shark »

We've all had gripes at various stages with regard to fixtures, whether from a playing or supporting point of view, and God knows I'd say everyone on this board would have their own ideas about ways to do things better. So with that in mind, I would say that it would be worth it if as many people as possible could take this survey.

It only takes five minutes, but the nature of things is that if there is sufficient momentum behind any particular idea, then I'm sure that it will be discussed at the very least. I'm not on the county board so I'm not completely sure if this is something that there is real will behind or whether it's merely following a directive from on high, but the core point is make sure to get heard anyway. Makes much more sense than grumbling in pubs or on here. (Though don't misunderstand that, we all enjoy the grumbling sessions  )

Question 3 part 6 asks: How do you feel about availability of match results at local and national level.

Its time to let our feelings known

I think that questions been changed!! For me it reads:
The number of games played between 1st May and 31st August in particular championship games

Possibly because I'm a club player??

I have said this before on this site and I'll say it again. The one thing we must have is certainty. A couple of the lads on the team complained about the gap between games but I would much rather be given a set plan of fixtures than return to the situation where "Oh we have a free weekend now because of this result, lets squeeze in a round of club championships next weekend".

With the fixtures the way the were set the last two years it's up to the manager to handle player's interest levels and sharpness and they had all the information they needed to do that.

I can see how from a supporters point of view it's annoying but as a player I know when I need to prepare myself to be at my sharpest for the championship games...whether or not I converted that preperation into performance on the pitch is another matter entirely!

Yeah, I think it's different depending on how you classify yourself. I went in from the basis of being a club player, other reserve, and I got the same question as ManfromFerbane. I might do a second lap with my supporter hat on now!
