Joe's Acknowledgement of other Offaly players!

Post by Ginger Bear »

Hey Lads, I'm a bit concerned with Joe's lack of acknowledgement of other players that consistantly preform well for their county. James Rigney springs to mind immediately. He is a superb hurler with a gutsy approach. He has the disadvantage of being small in statue but has the heart of a lion. I can't remember Joe acknowledging James efforts throughout this season.
I am concerned that Joe is some what bias against the kinnitty lads as he is not allowing James Dempsey the oppertunity to take pole position in Goals. His record speaks for it's self already. I have great admiration for the heroic efforts of Mullins over the years and would never take from him, but i feel he is not our number 1 choice any longer. Unfortunantly time creeps up on us all. Joe should not need to be reminded of this. If the plan was to build a new Offaly team then its about time he started by playing the correct player in the correct positions.
He should also acknowledge the efforts of these players and give praise where praise is due. The Kinnitty contingency done very well last weekend with Odhran scoring twice in as many minutes, Rigney proforming with emence skill and brain and Dempsey saving our bacon. Time to give these young lads a chance and put a bit a trust in their abilities.

You are probably going to get slated for this post and rightfully so. These lads aren't schoolchildren, they shouldn't need to be praised in public. As for an anti-Kinnitty bias-maybe he has maybe he hasn't but I wouldn't come out and say it.

James Rigney-Played around 75% of league and started first round of Championship

James Dempsey-Probably a touch unlucky not to start but there can be no quarrels with picking experience. James is still under 21.

Odhran Kealey-Got injured after the first round of the league and resultantly missed the rest of the campaign. Couldn't ask him to start championship with that sort of preperation.

And on current form we don't have anyone else hurling well enough to be on Offaly panel. So maybe Joe isn't that far off regarding the Kinnitty lads after all.

Kinnity man, i think you said what we were all thinking, In fairness James Rigney got his chance and has taken it with both hands, Young Dempsey looks like a certain starter the next day...when was the last time there were two kinnity hurlers starting for offaly??? Definately 10 maybe 20 years?? So I dont think an anti kinnitty bias is in play here.

Right you are, the opponent's full back line would be as shaky as ballinamere hurlers on a intermediate county final day!

esb lad nobody needs your sly comments on here.. on my defence though may i say 1.. atleast were there on county final day unlike ye who nowadays live on past glories and fruitless minor and under 16 wins that wouldnt even raise a glass in a brewery.. dont try to come back with one of your sly comments nobodys interested.. you should be studing for your junior cert and not being on this.. i gather your doing the junior cert with your level of maturity!

That senior status you have there making you dizzy ballinamereman1? 4 of the main underage county finals in the bag for 09 , looking like the good days are back for Rynaghs.. What have ye to show for your efforts, division 7 hurlin in feile of some sort. .. and i hear ye were fairly sure of yerselves with one of those amalgamated teams this year in u21 with half a dozen other clubs !. Typical Ballinamere man, all mouth, no trousers.

Anyway, im off to hit the hay, be dreaming of the great decade ahead for my club :D

I suppose im one of the lucky ones

hear ye'v a decent junior football team, should stick to that!!

(Sure it's only a bit of banter. )

Backofthenet, I really hope that isn't supposed to be some kind of dig, subconciously or otherwise?

Jesus no it was just an observation / question,, id say it is quite a while since kinnitty had a few players knocking around the county setup which is a shame. We need to have every senior club contributing a player or two to the team and as I said I think James Rigney is definately worth his place. Dempsey made a great save last weekend to save our bacon and deserves to start the next day....so not sure how saying that would be a dig at kinnitty
