To the best of my knowledge it was two factors - to put the two Kerry teams playing the same day, and because both Down and Offaly had played in Croke Park already this year - neither Mayo nor Kerry had.

I doubt it. I wouldn't rule it out, but this game will be a sell out anyway - they'll hardly want to throw demand for another 5-8,000 tickets on top of it. The fact that Down and Offaly have both been in Croke Park already this year means that the "opportunity to play in Croker" argument is out the window too.
