It'll be DCU. They did a job on the Wasters today.

Speaking of the Wasters, isn't there something mildly ironic about Dessie Dolan currently doing a radio ad for an, er, waste management company? :D :D

He drove the team bus down to Thomastown.
Actually I think he is from Tellamore a played a bit of League of Ireland soccer for various clubs.

Yep Tullamore, played league of Ireland for a while and had trials for English clubs and the like. Small and light but lightning quick, is intelligent with the ball and can take a score to.

Tom Cribbin was on the wireless after the match.
He felt that Ciaran Kiely was a good prospect for the full back position and was happy with Peter Smart's debut.

The problem with yesterday was that it was impossible to judge anyone. I'm 43 years old with a pacemaker and im not joking ye when I say that even I would have performed if I had togged out. The only thing about a game like this is to just get it out of the way, at least most of the panel that was there got a bit of football in but really the few of us that were there did'nt even bother clapping after the first 15 minutes.
Kevin Williamson is a Tullamore man, played half forward yesterday and scored 3 points, [2 frees and 1 from play] but really we would want to see him next Sunday to see what he is like against a half decent side.

He's a combination of the Williamson's from Walsh Island (his Father played with them) and the Healy's from Ferbane - so no stranger to the GAA.

Known as a soccer player through the Junior ranks and LOI. Good soccer player and also played a bit with the Tullamore footballers last year.

A member of the Gardai now, as far as I'm aware.

Apparently he can kick from either foor quite comfortably.
Never knew he was into football, always thought he stuck with the tanball.
Not sure how he'll fair out in this team, but I hope he can offer something constructive and positive, although I have my doubts about it.
He is known,in fact notorious for having a nasty streak.
Not something that will stand the team in good stead.
It wouldn't even take someone to rile him before lashing out,so he'd be an easy target for an opponent to try and get sent off.

I will be very surprised if he makes the first 15 for the league and championship. The one worry I would have about him is that he is a bit small and light and we have enough of them, I could be very wrong but I just can't see him facing Meath on May 23rd.

As B&R exile pointed out, you simply couldn't judge anyone based on yesterday's performance. For example, all three full back line players looked very comfortable in what was either their first county display or else their first county display in a new position, but they were up against nothing. The two corner lads played intermediate championship football in Offaly last year and would have met very few opponents as unable to win a 50/50 ball all year. Obviously all Spain and Gallagher could do was look after their own station and they did that perfectly well, but you simply couldn't take anything from the game or say you learned anything about either player in that environment.

I got chatting to one of the Kilkenny players after the game and you had to feel sorry for him. He clearly wanted to do better and even if some of his team-mates weren't looking after themselves, he was - but what could he do? They got no training, no instruction how to improve, and complete messing from some of the lads was tolerated and even encouraged. A guy who wanted to play intercounty football was basically given no choice but to make a show of himself.
