Connor joins Cork!

Connor moves to Cork City

Cork City's busy close season continues after they announced the signing of goalkeeper Dan Connor.

Connor, 27, signed a two year contract with the club having spent a number of seasons with Drogheda United where he played under new City boss Paul Doolin.

'I'm delighted to have signed for Cork City. Considering the way that last year went, I am really pleased to be back in football and to be doing so with such a big club is very positive for me,' Connor said.

'I've enjoyed playing at Turner's Cross in the past and I hope to enjoy it even more now that I will be playing for the supporters there, rather than against them.'

Cork also announced that Mark McNulty, has signed a new contract with the club.

The shot-stopper will fight it out with Connor for a starting place after signing a new two-year-deal with the Turner's Cross outfit.

McNulty said: 'Hopefully now I can push on from the run in the team I had last season and I would like to think I can hold on to the number one spot.

'Dan has come in as well, he's a good keeper and I'm looking forward to working with him. It will be up to Paul then to decide who is doing better and that will decide who is first choice.'

Have you an interest in Cork City BNMM, or is this linked to something else? Either ways, Dan Connor doesn't realise what he is letting himself in for going back to Cork, he is in for a rough deal there and well deserved IMO.

During Pat Dolans time in charge, City were playing Waterford and Dan Connor was playing in goal or Waterford. Waterford scored to make it 2 apiece right at the death and Connor turned to the shed end of the ground(where all the die-hard rebels go), gave a one fingered salute and threw a bottle of water in to the crowd. He found it hard to get out of the ground after! It is going to be very interesting to see how they take to him now.
