Interprovincial Games.

Post by the rat »

Anyone know what Offaly players are involved with the Leinster Footballers & Hurlers on Saturday?

I will be heading to Kiltoom, anyone else here going to support the Leinster teams?

FOOTBALL
The squad in full is: Mark Carpenter (Carlow); Shane Ryan, Colin Moran, Paul Flynn, Philip McMahon and Tomas Quinn (all Dublin); Kevin O’Neill, Andrew McLoughlin, Emmet Bolton and John Doyle (all Kildare); Mark Ward, Peadar Byrne, Joe Sheridan and Caoimhin King (all Meath); Mark Timmons, Ross Munnelly and Brendan Quigley (all Laois); Gary Connaughton, Michael Ennis and John Smyth (all Westmeath); Anthony Masterson, PJ Banville and Eric Bradley (all Wexford); JP Dalton and Dara O hAnnaidh (both Wicklow).

This is a completer joke. Im all for reviving this series and it should be given every oppurtunity but the squad that leinster are sending to Killtoom highlights what is wrong with this competition. Take for example Philip McMahon, Mark Timmons, JP Dalton...These three are not even regulars on their county teams and they are representing the province. It happened two years ago aswell with Declan Lally playing for Leinster and he wasnt even on the Dublin team. This would be akin to Gary Comerford (no offence) or Richard Fox or some other of the continuos offaly panelists going to play for Leinster.

Just have a look at the Ulster squad, the one province that does take it serious. Even with eleven players gone to Oz they are still strong;
Ulster (SF v Munster): Goalkeepers - J Reilly, R Gallagher; Defenders - F Moriarty, V Corey, D Harte, C Gormley, A Carr, B Donaghy, P Jordan, K Cassidy, K Lacey. Midfielders - K Toner, E Lennon; Forwards - B Dooher, R Woods, D Hughes, D Clerkin, S Johnston, E Bradley, B Mallon, S O’Neill, R Kavanagh, T Freeman, R Clarke.
