Davy Fitz & Waterford.

Post by midfield »

Ok its old news at this stage - about two weeks late ! but how do you think that Davy Fitz will do - is he a waste of money. doesnt look like he achieved much with Nenagh as for waterford - are the players still there. When Bond came in in 1998 not too many gave Offaly much of a chance ? can it be repeated?

great post, it will be very interesting, having read his book hes also had alot of success with club teams and with limerick in the fitsgibbon cup. hes a vtough trainer, who has respect of the players, canning , eoin kelly claimed he was a great coach and i think and hope hel squezz every last ounce outta this waterford team as bond did with us maybe.
with ken mcgrath , kelly, possibly flynn back and shanahan with alot 2 prove there my darkhores 2 stop kilkenny. while tipp mite win munster i dont think there is an all ireland in them this year.

think your spot on gutless08 ,think davy fitz could get the last kick out of waterford (especially older lads ) .the fire in him could be just what they need at this stage in season .if you look at the selectors aswell they could be much more physical in their approach(not they werent anyway ) from now on .everyone talks about cork but it was the same last year .when they hit a certain stage and stay with them they tend to fall off towards the end of games .look like a team gone or going over the hill .
i take the same view with you on tipp but think te will be hardest team to beat .as for galway ,they still dont have a good backline and their forwards ,are they really any better than the other teams ? to me no .Anyways as long as they dont win it ,i be happy .Limerick & clare will be the usual pain in arses for the big teams ,they will make them earn their wins over them but still wont win anything .

Ah here lads!
It looks a bit fishy that two Nokia speak posters are agreeing with one another and both using the same incorrect punctuation of putting a space before every full stop and comma and no space afterwards.

Hint to to baz and gutless08.
Don't put a space before every full stop and comma, put it after it.

Actually it's TWO spaces after a full stop, but we'll settle for one

Getting back to the original topic, I have to say that I think Davie Fitz is a somewhat odd choice for a midseason switch. From what I can tell, Fitzgerald is actually quite innovative and pays a lot of attention to scientific preparation and detail - which would be a great guy to take over in October and shape a team from start to finish. I'm not sure if it's ideal for midseason when you can't really put in place large scale changes and you just have to tweak what is there and get people back pulling in the same direction.

What is also for certain is that Davey will not be managing the Offaly team in the future now - either he'll be a failure in Waterford and we won't want him, or else he'll be a success and he won't want a team like Offaly with so much work to do.
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.
