Roe denies trouble in camp
Roe denies trouble in camp
23 April 2008
Offaly manager Pat Roe has rubbished reports that an internal bust-up led to PJ Ward and Neville Coughlan quitting the panel in recent weeks.
The Shamrocks duo walked away from the squad earlier this month amid rumours that there had been in-fighting in the camp. Former Westmeath player Ward was allegedly confronted by a team-mate in the warm-up before the NFL game against Kilkenny and subsequently left the panel. Fellow attacker Ken Casey also withdrew his services after been brought on and then substituted against Waterford.
But Roe said: "A fight, are you joking me? Not, at all. They weren’t able to make the full commitment that is needed."

Never believe a rumour until it has been officially denied!

Re: Roe denies trouble in camp
Roe's comments points to something alright, almost like Colm Coyle Sunday pulling the Wenger on it "I didn't see anything" with a big sneery grin on him when asked about the bust up!
There seems to be a scatter of new lads called in this week, I hope they called in Guinan from Ballycumber as well, seems like he played well last night for the cops. Two that I know are gone in, Jason Kelly for S'Bridge and Des Egan from Doon but I think there was a few more.

Brian Quinlan was brought in last week and played for about 20 minutes against Laois. He didn't do too bad when introduced, was confident looking, but there was a bit of a mix up between him and Shane Sullivan for the third goal. With his introduction to the panel, Alan Mulhall would seem to be an outfield player now! He played full forward on Sunday against Laois. He moved quite well but seemed to lack a bit of football practice. Niall Darby was also brought in last night.

Re: Roe denies trouble in camp
It's good to see that there are a few lads being brought in on current form and that they are stll keeping an eye open for players, even a month or so before C'ship. As a side note, how are the lads that have been in there all winter taking the fact that their hard slogging all winter long could come to nothing as some lads drift in at this late stage? A few of the lads brought in over the last week were on the list of 109 earlier and didn't head in for one thing or the other. Either way it's a good thing that they are still working at improving the panel.

Interesting.......... "When Offaly last won the Division 4 title in 1997, they went on to add the Leinster championship crown as well and supporters are obviously hoping history can repeat itself this year." Hoganstand.
