Charity Match

The annual Ferbane charity match is taking place Saint Stephen's Day in the G.A.A. pitch at 2pm. It will be fancy dress International Rules in aid of the Breast Cancer Association. Support would be appreciated. There will also be a raffle afterwards for some G.A.A.-related prizes. It does be great craic as Lone Shark, TheManFromFerbane and others will testify so if ye are at nothing pop over!

Having said that, let me get this straight - fancy dress? Are my visions of Batman soloing the ball down the wing with Humpty Dumpty attempting to wrap him up in a tackle an accurate reflection of what we're trying to create here?

Well that depends on if you count yourself as a young lad or an auld lad, LS. Since we (the young lads) have won the last three years we got first pick and have decided to go with shirts and dickie bows. The auld lads were going to go with women's clothes but seem to have tapped out since then so I would say the best bet would be to get on to one of my brothers to see what their plan of action is. Should be good craic afterwards as well. Gleeson's is the port of call and I think there will be a band out the back at some stage.

I think ye'd fairly struggle to field 15 lads older than me. Spring chicken (or turkey) I ain't.

Much like a man walking through a field of cows in his Sunday shoes, I'll tread warily...

I'll no doubt see a few bodies down town either tonight or tomorrow night anyway. The lie of the land will be sussed out from there!

Heard this went well- how much was raised for the charity ?

I think it was in or around two grand. Not as much as previous years but truth be told we didn't really have much time to organise it this year through no fault but our own. All in all the game went well and I suppose every little helps.
