Dear Sir/Madam,

While browsing your website, http://www.oneills.com, today the 4th December 2007, I came upon the Offaly page and quite frankly what I read has left me nothing short of digusted.

The claim on the Offaly homepage states’ The faithful county won their first All Ireland in 1981’ and ‘The County has gone on to win three other All Ireland Finals’.

I would like to make your company aware that Offaly, won their first All Ireland in 1971 and won it again the next year in 1972. So in actual fact we had won two senior All Irelands by the time your website claims we won the first one. These two All Ireland final victories were in Senior Football.

Offaly won their third Senior Football All Ireland in 1982. Thus together with the four senior Hurling titles, we hold 7 ( yes, seven ) All Ireland Titles and not four as your website claims.

I find the O’Neills company slogan of ‘the choice of champions’ in respect of what I have written above at the least slightly ironic and being completely honest I find it insulting to the extreme. I am normally of a mild mannered disposition but I can hand on heart admit that I am in a complete rage at the lack of research put in by O’Neills in sourcing its data.

It is indeed disrespectful to those men who have won those 3 All Irelands, not to mention the generation of fellow county men they inspired.

While I am aware that Offaly Footballers in recent years have not featured at All Ireland winning level, I don’t think that justifies dismissing the magnificent achievement of winning 3 All Irelands Senior Football titles previously.

I trust that the Offaly homepage will be amended to include the above information as soon as possible.

I currently possess numerous O’Neills articles of clothing and would like to take this opportunity to compliment you on the quality of your products but I am finding it difficult to resist the temptation of defacing the O’Neills logo which currently adorn the ‘Faithful county’s’ jersey.
