restructuring of championship
well folks, just wondering what yer thoughts are on a senior championship based on kerry's format. allow clubs who deem themselves strong enough remain in senior and have parish/regional teams combine to have a competitive championship of roughly 9/10 teams. it would give every player a chance to prove themselves to county management and thus you would not have 109 players been called into a trial panel as they would all have been assessed at the same grade more or less. any thoughts?
Re: restructuring of championship
Kk have put forward a proposal that senior championships in both hurling and football have two teams added - North Offaly and South Offaly, comprised of players from intermediate and junior clubs. I think there's merit in it, but whether it will get a hearing or not remains to be seen.
Re: restructuring of championship
Something needs to be in place on those lines.
My basic belief is that ANY player deserved the right to play for his club, deserves the right (if good enough) to play senior level, and thus deserving a chance to play inert-county. There has to be a facility for every player to be able to move up the ladder if he is good enough and willing to put in the effort required at that level.
